Cool. I'm getting TMobiles version, the Samsung Vibrant, next week. Will definitely download this app.

I was all excited about building flash and unity3d apps on the iphone...and then Steve Jobs went whacko with the IOS 4.0 sdk restrictions.

My AT&T contract is up and my ambitions are making me stray from the iPhone. I'm looking at that Droid X monster.

I'll have to sit and watch from the sidelines on this. But sports radio is a great addition to being a fan. No doubt there. My wife is locked into the past, but a great wife...so my budget isn't nearly flexible enough to participate.

If you do decide to stay with AT&T, the new samsung captivate will make you forget all about the iphone.

If you're going Android, there's only two phones I'd consider. The X or the Evo. Next gen phones will come out in the next 3 months sometime.. and then everyone will clobber over 'em. Evo is extremely easy to root if you're into that kind of thing. Overclocked, the EVO is a ferrari...

Glad I get my new phone in February of next year - hoping it'll be timed just perfectly to get the new ****** HTC Phone. God I love Sprint premier and getting a new phone every 12 months @ a 2 year contract price.

Whatever you do, good luck getting away from AT&T. Yuck

The only problem with that phone is all the garbage AT&T puts on there. If you use the Navi program, you get charged $10/month. Google Navigation is free... there's no Visual Voicemail(Once again, Google Voice is free to use and setup for visual voicemail and transcribing of your voicemails). They load up your phone with all their AT&T garbage... i.e, AT&T FamilyMap, AT&T Hot Spots, AT&T Maps, AT&T Music, AT&T Navigator, and AT&T Radio are your first six apps.... and you can't remove them without rooting. VERY impressive specs, though.

If you get that phone, and you don't have insurance.. I would root it immediately. If you get that phone and you do have insurance.. I would just look for the Pro version of a launcher on the Market that will allow you hide apps in your app drawer so you don't have to go through all the AT&T crap all the time.

I think I have come full circle on Wade. Originally I thought he wasn't worth the time of day but I grew to understand that alternative opinion. I was actually excited to hear his PC today... So why the android reference? :laugh2: A couple of weeks ago I picked up AT&T's new flagship Android phone (the Samsung Captivate). I haven't been able to put the thing down and think I am developing feelings for it...: Ok.. enough silliness. So I had been wanting to get rid of Sirius for the longest. The only thing I ever listen to on it is NFL Radio. One freaking channel!!! So I downloaded this android app called SRD (Sports Radio Droid). This little free sucker has just about every local sports radio station across the nation on it ready for live streaming (incl ESPN Radio). Within less than 10 seconds I was dialed into the Fan on KRLD 105.3... On the drive home I had my phone plugged into the aux port in the ride with Wade's post practice gathering pumped through the speakers. I never thought I would be that excited to hear Wade from Florida but I was. Just a few minutes ago, I called and discontinued my Sirius subscription. It feels good. :starspin

Sweet, just downloaded it. Will be checking it out.

Another good app for the sportsfan on Android is RadioTime. It not only has sports stations, but it has other radio stations too. The big bonus is that it streams The Ticket out of Dallas as well. That's pretty rare it seems like.

I will check this one out too after I check the other out.

I'm a former iphone user that is now on my 2nd Android phone. HTC Hero first and now EVO. Like most i love the 4.3 inch screen.

There are many good android phones out now. On every network. If you like the Samsung Capative it is also available on every other network under different names.

The apps for streaming radio are awesome. I only get philly sports radio around here so i love being able to listen to cowboys talk from my car.

If sprint coverage is good in your area give strong consideration to the EVO 4g. Sprint has the best prices around and you get every addition for free. Nav, sprint tv, ect. And now the EVO has full flash 10.1 so you can even watch streams from channelsurfing.net or justin tv on the phone. If you ever get caught in a situation where you didnt make it home in time for a cowboys game you can stream it to your phone. It may not be perfect quality all the time. But sure better than missing it.

I'd love to hear more from you EVO users... I've been with Sprint forever and have my big discout available.

So it has flash now? That was a huge negative for me before for Android. It's the full flash and not a stripped-down version?

How about battery life? Is it really not that bad as long as you close your background apps?

And oh yeah, one more thing... Didn't Android 2.2 come out for it in just the last couple of days? Anyone tried it?

Flash came in Froyo. (Android 2.2) It is not a stripped down Flash, it's Flash 10.1 that has been reworked for mobile devices. Now, that said, the official release of Froyo may not be available for the EVO 4G yet. (the only one I know for sure is the Nexus One) Of course, many people just manually download the Froyo release and install it on the phone themselves before the devices' official release.

While we are recommending apps, check out xScope web browser. IMO it's the best browser on Android hands down. There are two versions. A free one and a pay one. I use the free one and it's easily all I need it to be. At some point I will probably upgrade just to support xScope's development.

It is just better. Here is a review of it, but don't take my (or their) word for it. It's free, try it!

I don't personally like any other browser because of lack of pinch to zoom. Default method of zooming sucks. Other than that I haven't had any other problems with alternative browsers...

Chocolate, The evo battery life is pretty putrid if you use your phone.. i.e, text/call a lot, use a bunch of apps, etc.. my friend at work charges hers twice a day.. half the time she just leaves it on the charger. I personally go through about 4-8% an hour with an overclocked hero.. she goes through 8-16% an hour, depending on what she does. The screen is massive, very bright.. the phone feels solid. Just eats battery like no other. Applications like pandora/last.fm/subsonic use a lot of battery life... network activity is the #1 thing that will kill your battery.

If we're mentioning apps;

Shazam - best app ever.. identifies music by listening to it.. haven't found a song yet it can't identify.

Subsonic - best way to carry your music whereever you go. If you leave your computer on 24/7, you can install the server - and stream your music to your phone.

Google Voice - nifty app that can manage multiple calls on multiple numbers.. all on one new new ph# Google gives you for free(so essentially you have two phone numbers).. can record conversations for you, has the best visual voicemail I've used so far.

SNES Game - nifty emulator if you like to play old SNES games..

K-9 mail - easiest way to get push e-mails.. I sync 4 gmail accounts and they all push instantly, doesnt eat battery

Google Navigation - free navi for those who have to pay

iMusic - you can download songs from the internet to your phone.. pretty sure it's p2p, but you don't share.. you just download. This app you have to download from the authors website because google rejected the app

Pandora/Last.fm - great if you want to stream music and discover new bands

ADW Launcher - great if you want to change the look of your android and have ultimate control of your home screens and launcher

Beautiful Home - best looking widgets if you're not on a phone that uses HTC's Sense. They are beauttiful.

Smoothe Calendar - beautiful little widget that syncs your calendar if you're not using HTC's sense.

Handcent - easily the best messaging app that gives you full functionality of SMS/MMS messaging; hands down better than the default messaging app.

ES File Explorer - really good app that lets you explore the contents of your SD Card.
