At 62 years old. Only Dick Vermeil was older when he won it with St Louis in 99. It's clearly a young mans game.

Discuss.

Mike Holmgren will be 62 next year.

Which is why I dont want him either. Or Shanny. Or any old coach.

Football is a young man's game. I want a young, hungry, fiery assistant.

Do I have any names/pet cats? No. I dont know enough about assistants and their abilities on any team besides Dallas.

I just know I'm sick of the old guy. Bill Simmons had a great piece about coaches declining once they hit 55. I have to agree. I dont want anyone hired over the age of 50.

*edit* this thread is in no way implying that I think we'll win the SB. It's only week two. I'm just simply bringing up the fact that he's....old, and I'm not exactly a Wade supporter as HC

Oh, I've said many times that we've seen the toll this job has taken on the last two 60+ year old coaches. It's an incredibly stressful job and it's just harder to deal with at that age.

That said, Holmgren will have had a year off to recharge, and I think the media and fans would give him quite a bit of leeway at first.

And isn't Shanhan five or so years younger? Or maybe more like seven years?

I must say Wade doesn't look 62, maybe late 50's.

Holmgren Shanny is 57, Holmgren is 61. I want neither.

Many will disagree with me, but I still want Garrett as HC. He's only going to get better due to experience, and I want us to reap those benefits.

I really like Wade's aggressive defense, and with an aggressive defense, we need an aggressive personality running it. You cant have a kick *** take names defense with a coach that has the personality of a cupcake.

Interesting stat, very interesting indeed.I wonder that if some of the success of the younger coaches (overall) is tied to the young coach being able to relate with players.I would be hard pressed to believe that Lombardi,Landry or Shula could relate with the modern player(not to say they couldn't).There are just so many things to deal with now as compared to 35 years ago.Not to mention the generation gap between a 60 year old coach and a 25 year old "kid".

So in short, coaches, like players, have a shelf life.

Only instead of 10 seasons like the good players, its roughly 20 coaches. 35-55

Wade Phillips is 0-4 lifetime in the Playoffs.

I don't even believe his current boss, Jerry Jones believes he can take this team to the next level.

Also, I just think it proves that some Head Coaches are at their best when they are coordinators. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that, unless of course, you hire them as a Head Coach.

Wade? Who's Wade?

Oh you must be talking about that fat guy with the headset who they keep showing standing on our sideline during games. Is he the coach? Nah, everybody knows Jerry Jones is the coach.

Shawn Bradley would be the tallest guy to win NBA League MVP.

My one-legged sister would be the first woman to win the NBA Slam Dunk contest.

i agree, younger coaches have more energy to demand more;
besides vermeil was more charamastic, able to motivate players

now sure wade can motivate players
