John Clayton, of ESPN.com, reports talks between the Dallas Cowboys and free agent OT Leonard Davis (Cardinals) are heating up. Davis has not scheduled a trip because he is negotiating with at least three NFC East teams.

Interesting that we haven't scheduled him for a visit even though talks are heating up. Looks like he's trying to play the field and boost his salary.

which is smart. i wouldnt just visit the cowboys if i knew there were 2 other teams talking to me too. or maybe he just wants to geta deal done and screw the visits and just get it over with.

That's what I was thinking, forget the other visits, and take the money.

As of 6am still no word on Colombo.

So What's Going on?

Two possibilities...(1.) either Colombo has asked for too much money and we have decided to look elsewhere or (2.) we have reached an agreement and it has not been made public as of yet.

There is also a 3rd option:

We sign both.

After reading countless articles and trying to read between the lines this is what I see happening. One thing constant is that they all state that we are interested in signing L. Davis and most agree we would like to resign M. Colombo.

Maybe I'm being optimistic but what I see happening in the next couple of days or maybe as early as today We sign both Davis & Colombo.

We have been trying to solidify the OL for 7 years and we now have the opportunity to do just that. I hope we take full advantage of it.

I'm in total agreement with you regarding our need to re-sign Colombo. I guess I'm okay with Davis although concerned about his reputation for not always being a motivated player. Of course played for the Cards could affect anyone and I don't know what his reputation was in college.

I've read a rumor laste nite that Colombo did agree to a deal with us & it would be announced yesterday or today. However, I'm very skeptical about it because no source was provided, it was a one liner posted on this board from another board, and I've seen no reporting any place else in the media. In any words believe it only if the Cowboys announce it.

i dont think dockery is coming back..

It looks like the skins are going to cut renaldo wynn and collins and john hall so they can sign smoot and fletcher and keep springs.

I also read this morning the skins arent excited about the de they saw at the combine and would rather sign patrick kerney.

Typical Commanders, instead of taking the young guy they will chase kerney around..

It is beginning to worry me. I really thought we would have him locked up by now.

If we add Davis and Colombo, we're set on the OL except for more depth.

Fingers crossed both get done ASAP.

Did we ever figure out of Davis could play guard? I don't know his history, so i'm not clear on it, but if he could, that would be 1 postion nailed down.

Yes, he used to play his first three years in Arizona at guard I believe.
