Something the media is ignoring (or not aware of, who knows these days in their pathetic world) is the upcoming insanity that lies ahead in 9 days.

I predict it will be chaotic, and it will be spectacular.

This year, teams don't have to slowly trim their rosters from 90 to 53. They'll do it all in one fell swoop on September 2nd.

That's awesome on two fronts

First, it allows teams to protect important players, especially offensive and defensive lineman in the 4th preseason game. Before, it was hard to protect every body that mattered because there were only 75 players to use that final game. Now, that last game can basically be an interview for every player that is about to be cut for other teams.

Second, there will suddenly be about 1,100 players released at the same time, so it's a quick-stop shop for what ails you, and AT&T lines will be lit up like Christmas trees.

Nowdays, we know we're in good hands with Will McClay. I suspect he might have a handful of linebackers, corners, or offensive linemen he's watching intently right now for that approaching day.

To me, it is just a toe dip to see if teams could cut that many that quick and still keep roster integrity. The end result would be eliminating the last preseason game which will eventually feature zero top talent, no different from a first game.

I am pretty sure all the teams have a list already of what players to look for when the cuts are announced.

But teams like Cleveland can benefit from this over teams like Dallas. However it won't be like any team will claim 5 players or more. Well, maybe they will or the Jaguars or Jets. But teams like NE, maybe 1 if any.

I think that we're going to see a flurry of last minute trades. Mainly some 7th rounders and conditionals, but I think there could be a few names we've heard of in there as well.

I think we're going to see more than normal.

Already have seen a little bit of that. Like the Commanders/Steelers trade yesterday.

Definitely going to be interesting. Chances for your team to sign that guy you missed in the 7th round, a priority UDFA, or someone you had on your board last year.
Curious to see if we stand put with what we got or do we do some shopping.
Think we'll roll the dice at DE, but maybe a claim at LB might not be out of the question.

Dallas should be trying to make a few trades at the deadline but I wouldn't take picks in next years draft. They already will have enough with the comp picks they will get. I would try and go for one round higher picks two years from now. Might not work but that's what I would go for. If not, extra picks next year can always be used in draft day trades. I think they may have tradeable OL, WR, LB, and DB that are on the roster bubble. I sure hope they don't trade Rush.

It's awesome. I just wish they would have made the change sooner. The Cowboys of yesteryear would have benefited a whole lot more from it than what I suspect the Cowboys of today will. The 53 is hard enough to figure as it is...it's going to be hard to find an upgrade for this group no matter how many players will be made available at once. That teamed with the fact that the Cowboys will be 28th in line, I doubt the Cowboys will benefit much from the talent pool available. Those players worthy of a 53 somewhere won't make it down the line to the Cowboys in most cases.

But, like you pointed out, it may help the Cowboys collect some 2018 draft picks as teams attempt to forgo waiting in line to snatch up the players the Cowboys are seemingly poised to cut.

I don't see a big difference. Very very few of those first 15 cuts made anybody's final roster anyway.

However there won't be a line waitimg for 4 year veterans who are released. They are automatically free agents and can sign where they like.

Great thought erod. It never occurred to me how important it will be to pull the trigger right out of the box. All the players that could help you on your 53 man roster will be gone in a flash. If you snooze you loose. Go Cowboys

I wish they have a rotation system like if Cleveland selects the next in line will select first. Cleveland will then be the last in line.
