I am assuming by now that the team records are dictating waiver wire position by now. Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't it true we didn't claim a single player? If so it wasn't very valuable to us!

Maybe it speaks to what we thought of the players we have more than the players released. However so far, claiming a bag of popcorn would appear to be a good move over retaining Escobar!

I share your disdain for Escobar's overall subpar performance. And I agree that we shud move on at the right time. I can't help but think that he remains our best depth at TE given Hanna's health situation. If Swain were to go down at this point we'd need someone to step in that reliably knows the offensive assignments as the second TE. Gavin gives us that best option at this point in my view. He's an insurance policy until we at least get Hanna healthy and then we'll likely see the decision made to move on given Swaim's emergence. My two cents.

I actually don't hate Escobar, and am sort of having a little bit of fun about his production (lack thereof). I think he could be used in the red zone a little bit more than he has as a receiver. But he has been a total waste of a premium pick.

Oh yeah. No question about that. And I don't completely fault him. It would seem that he has better physical tools than Swaim but somehow Jeff has been able to make an impact even with the Witten factor while Gavin has not with any consistency. The fact that we burned yet another 2nd rounder (oh the dudes we could have had in retrospect, right?!!) that was supposed to finally move us to a predominant two TE offense I know has been a source of major frustration for me.

I really wud love to see him come into a niche role as a regular contributor but alas we don't seem to be able to get there...though he seemed to be making strides in 2014. I think we owe him the favor to move on for greener pastures a la Marty B and Fasano. And hopefully we've learned our lesson once and for all.

You mean you are against us taking a tight end in the second round?
