Walt Harris over Newman

Bailey never made as many plays as he does now early in his career...his couple of yrs in Denver have been far better than anything he had in Washington

new coordinators, probably a new style of defense...better results for all our guys, including Newman...who IS a great player

What forking games do you guys watch anyway?

What homers, he hasn't ever made a freakin pro bowl.

he's been robbed from the probowl 2 times now, and arguably 3

Newman is a good solid CB, nothing more, I don't know why many of you love to overrate him so....he is far from a shut down CB.

He is as much of a "shut down" cornerback as anyone in the league -- and more of a "shut down" cornerback than Champ Bailey has ever been.

Bailey, however, has been more of a playmaking cornerback lately. And playmaking cornerbacks are more likely to make the Pro Bowl than shutdown cornerbacks who don't make as many plays.

If Newman gave up twice as many catches, yards and touchdowns but finished with eight interceptions, he'd be going to the Pro Bowl.

newman didnt look like a shutdown the last month of the yr after the saints exposed his weakness being he cant cover crossing the field. he still cant cover double move routes. i like newman but he is a straight line sprinter, he's really not as fast as some would believe. in the terms of football speed. being able to switch directions.

Bailey makes more interceptions, doesn't shut down players like Newman which is what you tried to pull out of you but pal. Your credibility on this board is zero. And guys who make personal attacks will be banned if you bother checking out the rules.

Personal attacks banned, whaaaa! Don't be a little girl.

I would like to ask you homers how the view from freakin fantasyland is...........Newman is a good CB nothing more, you guys are as bad as the ES homers.

Bailey had 10 interceptions this year and one for a 70 yard TD return, he is much better than Newman, anyone who thinks otherwise knows nothing about the NFL.......other than:

All Cowboys, Best!!!!!!

What blind homers.

he's had 18 ints the past two seasons....20 total picks his first 6yrs

course, I guess its impossible that Newman might show alot of the same kind of improvement

What an ignorant remark. If Newman doesn't meet your requirements as a shutdown corner than nobody would.

I think the fact that every cornerback does get beaten pretty much dispels the myth of a "shutdown cornerback".

There are only a handful of them in league history and the last time we saw one he was wearing 21 for us.

That term is one of the more overused and worthless buzz words in the NFL lexicon.

Wow, someone didn't get his coffee

Chill out man, is there really a reason for you to freak out this much?

get a grip dude, what are you Champ Baliey's agent? Tnew didn't get exposed! What are you freaking talking about. Seriously, how many touchdowns have been thrown against him not only this year but the last two years...you can count them on 1 hand. You cant say the same about Chump Baliey. Tnew can cover so quit your pulling fake stats out of your bum.

You cant intercept what isn't thrown to you. Your probably one of those guys who thinks sacks are more important than any other stat too..Merriman vs Ware? I wonder where you stand? Your posts in this thread make me laugh out loud. Anything you post from now on will seem like tripe.

he could but will he? probably not. newman doesnt really have them football instincts bailey has. newman could have had more int's but he drops them. bailey loves to jump them slant routes. newman? he plays so far off wr's fearing that double move that he gives that up.

thats basically the difference between the two

its ridiculous to say Newman is Not a top 3 CB and this is coming from a guy that is not a homer. if i think a player is overrated or dont like a coach i wont hide it. like i did with Roy and Parcells. Newman's only problem is he cant catch and he really doesnt go for the INT's, he usually just tries to knock it down (which is why he's probably CB instead of WR as the saying goes) If he could catch he would have had at least 5 Int's and he probably would have made it. I know its a joke but thats just the way the piece of trash pro bowl works

you're 38?

and you call people names to make you feel better?

you need to act like your age .

If you want references on Newman talk to TO, Steve Smith, Marvin Harrison, and just about every top WR in the league. Newman has shut them all down at one time or another. Bailey had a great year= BUT he gave up more TDs then he scored. He did get more INTs, but he gave up plays. If you look at the CB from the point of STOPPING receptions then Newman is the best in the league.

while all thats true, u have to remember who newman has had opposite from him his entire career. henry the past 2 yrs but since the cardinals game in 2005, teams have gone to him because its so easy now.

Savvy fans realize that. On the other hand, your typical Joe Fan only understands interceptions. Or sacks, or yards, or whatever.

Not this again!

I'd never think that such a good guy and good player could be such a polarizing figure among fans.

But if we get Phillips or another good defensive coach with a new approach, I expect what Adam said to happen: More completions allowed, but more interceptions, too.
