wanna place a bet on the Cowboys winning a Super Bowl... help me out, Zoners!

I've never placed a bet before in my life.. just not a gambler at all.. but I wanna lay down something like $50 just for fun on the Boys winning the Super Bowl this year.. so I go and get a membership at betus.com and go to make a bet and it says the odds for the Cowboys are +1500. I have no clue at all what that means. How much would I win if I put down $50?

Thanks for any help.. I just think it will add some extra fun to the playoffs this year, and I just have a feeling about my Cowboys winning it all this year.. I'll kick myself if they win and I didn't make a little bet..

Bare with me here..

+300 would mean if you wagered $100, you'd win $300.

Soooo.. +1500, if you wager $100, you'd win $1500. So with a $50 wager, you'd end up winning $750.

Basically, +1500 is 15-1, +1000 would be 10-1, +200 2-1, etc..

Edit: And I'm sure this question would come along, but yes, you'd get your $50 wager back as well. So let's say you deposit $50, put it on the Cowboys at +1500 to win the Super Bowl and they win it. Your account would be credited with the $50 wager as well as the $750 of profit, with your account total at $800.

I don't think there's anything wrong with that though. The site cannot be associated with gambling, but the membership is free to be interested in whatever they choose.

Of course people have a passing interest in it...so, I'll pass.

Here in Utah gambling is against the law...so people that want to gamble have to go to out of state. And we can drive two hours to get to a gambling place and friends ask me why I don't go and I tell them I have no friggen clue how it works!

I tell them this is what I would do if I went with them to gamble. I would get like 20 $100.00 bills, start driving down to Wendover and every once in awhile I would toss out a $100.00 bill out the window of the car until I got there...losing 10 bills, then turn around come home and to the same thing!

Nah...I would rather give money away then try and let the "sharks" take it from me!

That would help, now can you tell me how to avoid the loan shark I borrowed the money from. Who knew 50% on the dollar daily was a bad rate?

I like to bet of football games but I never bet on the Cowboys, it is one of my many rules never bet on things you love because the heart is bad at picking games.

And I hear ya Doomsday, though I usually have a pretty good feel for Cowboys games to be honest. I only bet about 4-5 of our games a year and do pretty well with them, and I never bet against them.

just a quick word of advice....if I were you I would register at bodog.com...where as at betus.com your getting +1500 for every $100...at bodog you will get +2000. Meaning if the boys win the SB you will win $1000 as opposed to $750 for the same $50 wager.

Even for the safest table games there are things no sane person should get into (like proposition bets in craps), but alcohol and pretty women can change even the best of plans. Lately I hear single-deck blackjack is being offered with 6/5 payoffs instead of the traditional 3/2. And some people are falling for it. PT Barnum had it figured long ago.

When I gamble, it's as much for the entertainment value as any possible winnings. As I'm sure others have pointed out before, it adds a flavor to the proceedings. I stick to things I have a reasonable grasp of.

Like anything in life: it's best not to risk more than you're prepared to lose, and walk away at that point. It's not for everyone, but few things are.

I agree. When I go to casinos I go there to enjoy myself and only gamble with what I'm willing to lose. Normally do well at the tables but win or lose I always have a good time.

You know, I'll buy a SuperBowl square on a board around here, and bet 10 or 20 againss a friend...but I have no clue how gambling works.

And your bolded part...I would have more entertainment by just contributing whatever loose money I have to someone that really could use it. I'm the kind of person that if I see a homeless guy on the street asking for money...I tell them, "Get a freaking job"!
