Want to draft a running back?

Murray has done good things this year. He's shown he can carry the load when health, IF the coaches have the brains to actually use him. However, he has a history of being injured a lot, and he did have a costly fumble in our most important game of the year, one that probably cost us the game.

Randle's shown a few flashes, but not much else. Tanner's a scrub. Dunbar's a fast change of pace guy; I like him a lot, but he's not your workhorse.

Isn't Murray coming to the end of his contract? I think we should seriously consider drafting a running back, not in the early rounds, but around the 3rd or the 4th.

Murray has shown he is the real deal and he absolutely goes into next season as the #1 RB for the Cowboys.

Having said that they need a reliable #2 and I don't think that guy is on the roster.

RBs burn out quick in this league. I wouldn't be against drafting a RB on day 2. Murray still struggles to extend runs. I feel like he leaves yards on the field. He runs into defenders instead of eluding the defenders. Sometime the defenders are already being blocked and he runs straight into them anyway. But I'm happy with his production this year and he will be our RB1 for at least the next couple years. And he will be solid.

If Dallas drafts another TE, RB and a WR, we will be 8-8 again next season. There is no way they can avoid the defense, particularly the front 7. There are always RB's that can be brought in to fill a hole, it is not like we rely on the run anyways.

Assuming he comes back healthy, I really want to give Dunbar a legit chance. Not at replacing Murray....but a legit chance of getting 10 touches every game. let him carry the ball 6-8 times and try to target him a few times a game out of the backfield.

He's solid for us I'm hoping Randle is our guy at number 2 cause relying on Dunbar and that injury it's going too be hard, hopefully we draft too better our defense but we will see.

It would be a good year for it. Ka'Deem Carey, Tre Mason, Bishop Sankey and Andre Williams headline the class, then there's intriguing small school prospects like Terrance West and Antonio Andrews.

I believe the expression is, "go hunting where the ducks are". Well it seems as though the quality of ducks in collegiate backfields this year is higher than in recent memory.

It would be a really good idea to draft RB in round 2-3. Murray started displaying on-field leadership this year especially at end of season but can't ignore his injuries.

He clearly stated in the OP...3rd or 4th.

This means he understands there are other positions to address as well.

Geez.

Exactly. I would draft for the D-line in the 1st and 2nd. We'll be getting Crawford back. That should also help us on D. Then for the 3rd I'm torn between getting a safety or going ahead with drafting a RB. If we get a safety, then definitely go after a RB in the 4th. In the 5th or 6th maybe you even go back to drafting another D-lineman. It depends who's available.

I would like to see them get a real power back in here. I was hoping they would've drafted Eddie Lacy last year but they didn't. If Murray gets hurt again they still don't have a guy that they trust to carry the load.

I don't think runningback is in the cards. As far as needs to consider on the offensive side would be getting a solid guard and possibly getting another wr rather than picking a rookie FA or two.

We shoulf draft a guy in the last 2 rounds and hope he plays like Zac stacy or Andre ellington.
No pont in getting a RB in the first 4 rounds, we have other priorities, Defense.

I personally do not want a "rookie" RB. The staff would NOT trust a young RB. I wish you can find the old thread when I begged the Cowboys to sign Darren Sproles. I think we were not interested because we did not think he could carry the football. But for me that was not the point. He is a game changer. He makes defenses defend your ENTIRE offense differently. He would make the QB, WRs, TEs and the play callers job easier. We don't need an old vet. But we need a guy with 3 good years left that is PROVEN. People have to understand that the reason Murray was not fed the ball more against the Packers is because they were PACING him. The decided during the week that he was going to be the ONLY RB to take the field during that game. In fact....I am not sure any other RB got a carry the rest of the year. And I am pretty sure Murray took ALL the snaps. This team needs someone else that can give us effective snaps.

With Murray rsndle and Dunbar I think we should be ok
Maybe use one of our 7th rd picks on one

Ware may be cut, rat is gone , hatcher needs to leave
Spencer stays if he signs a cheap deal
Our lbs are also a question mark

Our needs are:

3 starter quality DL
Starting FS
Starting OG
LB

Then we can talk about other positions
