But we WERE one of those good teams.
You have your opinion, I have mine. I can't submit that the Cowboys didn't deserve the playoffs at 7-3 after finding ways to win against some very good teams. That 21-20 win against the Eagles at *basically* full strength, the season opener, the 49ers game... this team was in the top 5 of ESPN's power rankings after week 11.
I think the late-season collapse had more to do with the Cowboys not exploiting other team's weaknesses than anything else. I refuse to believe that going 2-4 over the last six games of the season was merely because of the teams we played.
Did you not see the teams absolutely embarrassing Tucker & Pettiti? Do you think talent doesn't matter? Frankly, I would be a bit embarrassed if I were Carolina for not exploiting that weakness more successfully.
BTW - if you are using the Niners game and ESPN Power Rankings as your primary evidence...
I think I'd use the first Eagles game as evidence before the 2nd one where we lucked out (a la Washington) and got a pick to score late in the game and then barely survived the Eagles scramble for FG position - remember Reeves late pass breakup?
You can't just point to our successful games as the real Cowboys and dismiss the others as underachieving. IMO, we are what we are, 9-7.
