it comes out this week, anyone planning to see it or fans of the series?

I played both the original Warcraft and Warcraft 2 (before the battle.net edition) on PC years ago. The story and characters in the first two were indeed very good and memorable, I still remember a great deal of the story and all the main characters. It wasn't until Warcraft 3 and the release of the World of Warcraft is when everything drastically changed from the original storyline. In the current Warcraft story I really have no clue what is going on, from what I've read it seems that the film follows the original storyline of the first two Warcraft games.

Assuming the director followed the original storyline and characters it may be very good, plus it has Travis flammel (Ragnar from Vikings) and Paula Patton which are both good/watchable actors in my book.

I've read of ton of the books. Many are really good, others are...not so much.

I will definitely see the movie. The real question is when will I see it. I'm sure my buddy will have it on Plex in no time. That's probably where I will watch it.

The source material is pretty good, but this movie looks like steaming hot garbage.

Not interested at all. I don't expect it to do very well. It reeks of a green rotten splat.

It looks really crappy to me. Not due to the material or topic...the movie itself just looks lame.

I was a big D&D geek as a kid...but the Dungeon and Dragons movie they made a few years ago was terrible.

This seems like it could actually be worse.

This looks like it could be almost as bad as In the name of the king a Dungeon Siege Tale kind of bad.

I will watch it tonight on Plex and let you know. :) I heard it doesn't follow the books exactly, but the end results are always the same. A co-worker who watched it said he liked it and that they are coming out with new books that follow this story-line or something.

Anyhow, I agree with you about the D&D movies. They were absolutely terrible. They SERIOUSLY need to NOT make them comedies. D&D isn't a comedy, though you could have some serious fun while playing.

Oh yeah... I think I remember the D&D movie... Didn't it star Marlon Waynes or something?

I'd be more interested in a series about Drizzt/Icewind Dale than Warcraft, and I'm a big Warcraft fan (played all the games, including years of WOW).

Actually, I'd love to see Drizzt and Icewind Dale/Forgotten Realms done GOT style as a series.

Drizzt would require the cgi of this Warcraft movie.

#1 in China they love it, here not really.

They also loved all the Transformers movies. Each one doing progressively better than the last.

China is new. They are taken in by the graphics and visual effects right now.
Or they have terrible taste in movies !

Hard to tell with a population that big. Ive seen some period war epics like Red Cliff and The Warlords come out of China within the past decade

I'm not anti CGI.

I'm not either as long as it's not over-done. (like many of the Transformer movies)

The movie last night was a bit difficult to watch. I actually fell asleep during the last part of it. Though I was wiped out tired last night when I got home and I had already re-watched GoT too. I had a feeling I wasn't going to make it all the way through the movie anyhow. I may try again.
