The Cowboys and Broncos essentially traded Ware and Mincey. All things considered, who is ahead on the "deal"?

I have to think Dallas is and I still don't know why Denver let Mincey get away as he was very good down the stretch and in the playoffs last year.

I have to say that I am very impressed with Mincey.

He has provided the pressure on both 4th down plays this year aginst the Texans and Seahawks.

The best parts of getting Lawrence, Brent, and Okoye in, is that the bottom of the depth chart completely changes, whether they become starters or not.

That's what it's about for me just strengthening the depth on the D-line, down the stretch having a healthy rotation in that spot is so beneficial. Throwing three guys who hopefully can play (at least decently) into the mix to start the last half and in Brent's case last quarter of the season gives this team a pretty decent leg up on the competition.

I was disappointed when he went back to the jags after I thought we had signed him a couple of years ago.

Ware wasn't playing with that same burst the last couple of seasons. I'm happy we got Mincey and hearing sound bites from last week's game this guy has a strong personality to go along with his style of play.

If Ware is healthy, it's obviously a no-brainer in his favor. But if it's the oft-injured Ware we've seen in the 2nd half of the past couple seasons, it's almost a wash. Especially when you factor in the $$$ spent on each player.

While I do not think that Mincey is quite as talented as Ware, I do believe that he has the relentless spirit that was lacking in Ware some of the time. Mincey is all-go, no-quit, just like most of the d-linemen.

We couldn't afford Ware with what his production had become.

ware did'nt leave because of production. ware is having a very good year in denver and still producing at a high level. ware has 4 sacks already, the same number as jj watt.
ware was'nt affordable in the long term plans of the team. he is still a great player but teams have to part with great players at some point

he may not have the same burst. but he has 4 sacks already this year and i bet you by the end of the year he is in the top 5 in sacks.that said we needed to move on but don't get why people have to bash a great player to make a point

In the Denver games I have watched, Ware has looked exactly the same to me although he did have one strip sack late in the 4th quarter that basically sealed the game. He hadn't done that in Dallas since the NO game several years ago. He has made the occasional play but 90% of the time you don't even know if he is in the game or not. To me, that's exactly the same as the last two years in Dallas. By the end, his stats will be fine but his impact will be less than his salary dictates it should be.

Ware should be producing in Denver. He wasn't completely washed up or anything... he simply wasn't worth $12M per year to Dallas. Maybe he is to Denver because they thought they were one player away and they needed a rusher badly.

Anyway, with that Denver offense scoring points hand over fist, Ware is going to have a butt load of opportunities to rush opposing QB's, so he should have quite a few sacks, even if his play has declined a good bit. Plus, the Denver secondary is much improved, so you make opposing teams have to pass to keep up and then provide better coverage when they do... you should have a lot of chances to rush the passer.

So, even though I do think he's not as good as he used to be, I can see why Denver wanted him... and why Dallas did not.

Mincey played in two games for the Broncos. Recording a total of 1 tackle. So no, he wasn't very good down the stretch for Denver.

Mincey's problem is that he quit on teams. Didn't go to meetings, put on weight. Was more interested in his recording studio.

He was called out by players early in training camp for not showing up to practice on time. He admitted he needed to loose weight.

Is he even remotely close to Ware in ability? NO

He has shown that, up to this point at least, he's willing to work hard and loose weight. He still offers nothing in the form of a pass rush. But he does seem to be doing a solid job against the run. Hopefully Lawrence can step in and replace him on passing downs. Heck, Lawrence was outplaying him in training camp...as a rookie.

My biggest surprise this year. Stats may not show a lot, but he's playing well and playing hard. Very happy with him.
I kind of had my doubts about the effort that he was going to put in, he just seemed like the guy who would come in and be lazy, especially since it didn't seem like he got off to the best start early in camp.

Clearly, I was wrong. This guy, like most everyone on defense, is a bit lacking in talent, but he's relatively productive and he's a vet who puts in a legitimate effort. A lot of fun to root for this guy.
