Miles has to be first, but I would definitely sign Junior to a two or three year deal. I suspect he'd sign pretty cheaply for a few years of security after being out of the league for a while.

And while I wouldn't want to give Sensabaugh a mint, I don't think he'd check out mentally if he got his money like it seems Hamlin has. Mike Smith said he was one of the toughest guys he'd coached and you practically had to cut off a limb to keep him off the field.

I havent seen anyone talk about this, but did you notice we played nearly a whole series with bowen-siavii-hatcher-octavien-butler out there....and they did pretty well.

Pretty nice to see.

That's too high a number after two games. But if Jones worked quickly he could probably get a 5 year 30 million deal.

If Miles' agent has a lick of sense, he wouldn't agree to anything now. Wait until the end of the season to get a true measurement of his value.

Miles' agent, if he had any sense, would know that he's going to get a great deal right now. Letting it ride puts you at risk of injury and various other issues that potentially ruin your payday.

Some recent history from mid April:

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Miles Austin left New York without an offer from the New York Jets.
Austin, who is the Cowboys’ third receiver and holds more value with the departure of Terrell Owens, visited the Jets yesterday. There has been no word of an offer or deal the two have agreed upon.
If the Jets do take Austin, they would have to give up a second-round pick to the Cowboys, giving them back-to-back picks in the second round. The Cowboys could use those picks to trade up into the first round but it won’t get them too high. If the Cowboys do move up in the draft, I’d like to see them pick a wide receiver.

I guess we can all say, " Thanks, Jets " ;)

Doesn't Austin go in as a Restricted FA again this offseason due to the change in rules going into the uncapped year?

If the CBA does not get extended and 2010 is uncapped, players will need to have accrued 6 NFL seasons in order to qualify for unrestricted free agency.

Miles Austin, Gerald Sensabaugh, Junior Siavii and even Marcus Spears would all be restricted and unlikely to leave.

We have the rest of the season to watch them all play, but Austin is the clear number one priority as things stand. I know he will come back to planet earth when defenses start doubling him a lot, but he's a young playmaker with incredible upside.

I wouldn't let him sniff RFA, even a first and third round tender might not stop a team from trying to sign him away.

I'm good with tendering everyone else and working out a long term deal if they aren't too greedy.

Actually, the Jets likely didn't do us any favors here. They would have made an offer and we would have matched. We would have saved a considerable amount of money.

I didn't notice. Was it early in the game? The more we can play these guys and not fall off for the little bit they're out there the better we are.

now lets not rush on Austin IMO - just because he has had two great games

that might be a mistake like Jerry jumpin the gun on RWs last year

lets see if he can make it the rest of the season

Sensabaugh the same leet them earn their money

and Spears I would over pay the guy - he has only played good this year IMO

I think Spears is gone give me Bowen

Hey Siavii is playing some good ball for us too.

My positions of need in this draft would be.

1. Safety

2. OT

3. NT/WR - Both would be a luxury pick for this team.

I also would have no problem if the Cowboys pulled the trigger on ILB Brandon Spikes.

heres my draft right now

1OT Anthony Davis*, Rutgers Height: 6-6. Weight: 335 Jr
Bruce Campbell, Maryland 6-7, 310 Jr
Charles Brown, USC - Height: 6-6. Weight: 296

2 FS - Myron Lewis, Vanderbilt Height: 6-3. Weight: 202

SS - Myron Rolle, FloridaState Height: 6-2. Weight: 218

or go WR

WR Golden Tate*, Notre Dame Height: 5-11. Weight: 195.
or
Eric Decker,
Minnesota - Height: 6-2. Weight: 215.
or
Marshawn Gilyard,
Cincinnati Height: 6-1. Weight: 180.

3 OG Chris
Scott, Tennessee Height: 6-5. Weight: 341
A versatile lineman who can play just about every position up front. He started every game for a unit that surrendered only four quarterback sacks in 2007.

4 NT Ekom Udofia, Stanford Height: 6-2. Weight: 311.
Projected Round (2009): 4-5.

2/14/09: Playing nose tackle for the Cardinal, Ekom Udofia had 29 tackles and a TFL.

8/1/08: A mammoth of a defensive tackle who contributed in a rotational role last year. He had to miss the final portion of the 2007 campaign with a fractured ankle. In 2006, Udofia was named to the Freshman All-American third team
or
DE - Will Tukuafu, Oregon
Height: 6-4. Weight: 278.
Projected 40 Time: 4.79.
5/18/09:
Put up an amazing 17.5 TFL as well as 7.5 sacks. Projects as a 3-4 end
