Ware had the quietest 19.5 sacks I have ever seen

IMO, Ware did not have a spectacular season. Many of those sacks came in losses to the Eagles.

He is a terribly flawed pass rusher, and can't make this defense better with the game on the line like he used to.

By many do you mean 5?

IT is fantasy that Spencer faces many double teams. Absolute fantasy that he drops back a lot. Every passing down just about he rushes the passer and gets half a step away at best. Pressure is meaningless if it does not affect the passer. QB pressures are a joke since EVERYONE measures them differently. To me a pressure is forcing the QB to move and not throw or pump or do something. IF he stands in there and throws normally that is NOT a pressure.

I agree with this. Spencer is too little too late on too many plays. Too many QBs have stood in the pocket unmolested by our defense. This is an even bigger issue than the O-line play IMO. We need improve in the trenches BAD (on both sides of the ball).

.5 more sacks this season, and DeMarcus Ware would have been the NFL's very first to have two consecutive seasons with 20 sacks.

He didn't have 20 last season. And he is the first player in history to have two seasons with at least 19.5 sacks.

Not even sure where to start with this one.

Do you think he should have quit in either of the eagles games?

I love this response I've seen perhaps way too many times on this site when attempting to discredit Ware sack total.

Do you only count the sacks in wins? How about the sacks most pass rushers rack up in blow out wins? IMO Those mean less than the ones Ware got in the losses to the eagles. I want my guys playing hard regardless of the score. Who wants players who give up in a lost cause?

If Ware is such a terribly flawed pass rusher, would you mind listing the players who aren't? Who are better? You can start with the ones who've actually registered more sacks than Ware since 2005.

Got you out. Thanks.

Point of first time in NFL history would hit although as being needed to be seen.

Could you by chance pm me the UIL for your own site. A person off another site asked me if I had it. I told him I would try to retrieve your site address from you. Please?

And only Reggie White has had more sacks on a per game basis thus far in his career since they started recording sack numbers.

But hey, those were all quiet sacks. Make sure we include that asterisk when he's a first ballot hall of famer.

1.2 sacks/game will go unnoticed when your "star" CB is getting hurdled by FBs and LB's

1.2sacks/game will go unnoticed when your defensive squad is giving up 4th quarter leads over and over and over and over and...you get the point.

It also matters when those 1.2 sacks/game happen. Consider that in a lot of those big losses for Dallas, the opposing offenses ran 30-40+ passing plays... yeah, those 1.2sacks often meant little.

how about some pressure up the middle so that the QB cant ALWAYS step up in the pocket and avoid ware? u people make me sick with these uneducated threads.

I am unimpressed with Ware right now. Play after play, he runs right past the QB, and instead of going around the backside, he re-engages his blocker and plays patty-cake with him.

I'm sorry, but his technique flat out stinks, and his tool kit is limited.

Top 4 Defenses: Pittsburgh, Houston, Baltimore, San Francisco.

SF and Baltimore had 2 guys w/ 14sacks (tops on those teams)

Houston and Pittsburgh didn't have a guy w/ double-digit sacks.

difference is that their offensive units, as a whole, were far better. Their Dline/olb QB pressure was more consistant...didn't always get sacks but pressure was better/more consistant.

I'll take consistant pressure from the unit as a whole over big sack numbers for an individual anytime.

Wait a second. The specific techniques that he uses, for a large part, are dependent upon what requirements the defensive call demand when sent onto the field by Rob Ryan.

I haven't yet seen an evaluation of DeMarcus Ware, where his pass coverage, run support, or pass pressure/sack abilities have been denegrated or questioned...at least in the media and evaluators.

as much as our pass defense sucks Ware gets his fair share of sacks on QBs that are scrambling because of no one to throw to.

No one has questioned his technique, but it hasn't changed since RR's arrival. Watch him carefully on most plays, and you'll notice he has a good burst, but then over pursues and runs past the pocket. Then, inexplicably, instead of keeping his motor running, he stops, and moves backwards only to re-engage his blocker. I've noticed this over and over again, and it goes back to Wade's days. In the meantime, all the QB has to do is step up in the pocket and launch a pass because Ware has taken himself out of the play, and our other pro bowler got no push up the middle.

Stats are stats, but they don't tell the full story. I have grown tired of seeing Ware's one move. He has no inside moves at all, and he is so predictable that his only hope is to jump the snap count. Average olinemen are getting the best of him.

Also, one has to consider his boneheaded offsides penalties. Some of them came at the worst time in the game. So much for leadership.

You should pay better attention.

So he's the 2nd most productive sack artist in the history of the league while using awful technique?

I agree completely about the qb being able to step up in the pocket. The problem is to fix that you have to move Ratliff to end and get a REAL nose tackle. Or at least someone that can push the pocket consistantly.
For Ware, yes his stats are stellar and I'm happy he is here but his sacks still only come in garbage time or early in the game. I do not see him making to many if any at all game changing sacks. This could be due to the fact that the rest of the defense is crappy or it could be him. From what I have seen it is mostly him.

Then you don't know what you're watching.
