he is 3rd among all rookies in the finalized fan voting, will likely be a reserve and looking at the nfc linebackers list, most of the good ones are MLB, i can see the OLB being:

Demorrio Williams
Julian Peterson
Demarcus Ware

As a Cowboy fan, I hope he makes it.....however, not honestly sure he has deserved it!

Border line at best!

Wouldn't it be interesting around here if he played and had two sacks......

J. Peterson has missed a number of games I think, due to injury.

well then not only does ware have a chance to make the team, but to start also

I hope he doesn't make it right now.... I think he's good but I don't want him thinking he's better than he's played. Most of the votes he received are becasue the game against the Hawks in Preseason and not for what he has or hasn't done this season....

If so, it would be a sham equal to the Larry Allen one.

But what about the great Shawn Merriman?...You know, the guy some folks said we should have taken.

do you mean the guy in the AFC? even if he was in the nfc, he's not even top 5 in rookie vote getters

Ware deserves the Pro Bowl and Rookie of the Year! :D

And he's better than Merriman! :anvil:

Don't hold your breath. As of right now, there is no comparison between Ware and Merriman. Merriman is making plays all over the field and Ware looks like the next Pittman, Ek, and Carver rolled into one. Fast of the edge then gets pushed out too easy.

We drafted this guy to get the QB on the ground, not to defend tight ends downfield. And don't give me those hurried numbers or pressured numbers. Give me sacks numbers. Let's face it he has been dissapointing since the first half of the season.

Not gonna happen. Taboo to blitz in the pro-bowl.

Taboo to play man coverage.

Taboo to play defense.

That would be very cool if he made it. Might give him a much needed confidence booster.

What would you rather have, a player with 5 sacks and 30 pressures or 10 sacks and 10 pressures?

I'd take the 5/30 guy. Sacks are overrated as a statistic. Give me a team that puts constant pressure on a QB, forcing him to hurry his decisions and I'll show you a quality defense. At least two of Ware's pressures lead directly to INTs. That doesn't show up on his stat line, but people who understand football understand that what really matters.

And claiming that Ware wasn't drafted to cover TEs but to register sacks is simplistic. If he didn't have some coverage responsibilities, he's be a DE instead of a LB.

"Merriman is making plays all over the field" ? Not really, he misses alot of things. He's excelled at situational rushing the QB. Up the middle, over a guard, etc. Not just taking on the LT all the time. He's being used wisely by Wade Philips. To bad Zimmer can't see that.

I would rather have 10/10 guys then 5/30 guys. You say sacks are overated, I disagree, I think pressures are just a made up stat. In today's NFL most qb's can avoid pressures and step up or around and make a throw. With a sack, it's negative yardage something this defense doesn't generate.

My point was I think most of us were hoping for more sacks on the QB this year with Ware generating them. Call him a LB, DE, or hybrid..I just was expecting more of a pass rush from the 11th pick overall something we haven't had since Haley. And when I watch SD play I'm seeing Merriman bull rushing O lineman making plays behind the line of scrimmage every Sunday.

Ware/Spears/Canty will have a feasting party next year. They will be bigger, stronger, smarter, with experience. But this year, Ware should be at home with the rest of us watching the probowl.
