Has anyone mention this. Sorry but I haven't heard this from anyone but Ware with the sack sunday is at 95 for his career and passes Jim Jeffcoat 94.5 sacks and is now the teams all time leader in sacks. There might have been a player that has had more total with playing on other teams but this is now the most sacks for a career while being a Cowboy.

Jeffcoat has 102.5. That is 22nd in NFL History.

Maybe he did get the last 10 or so with the Cowboys. He did play for Buffalo his last 3 seasons or so.

Great point.

Thank you.

Congrats to Ware that's one hell of an accomplishment. When it's all said and done this guy will not only go down as one of the best if not the best defensive player in Cowboys history, but he will go down as one of the best defenders to ever step on an NFL football field.

it makes you think, He will be close to 100 total at the end of the season. That would be 100 away from the NFL record of Bruce Smith 200. If he can play 6 more years he has a great shot at breaking that record. Good luck D Ware.

Ware now holds the top 3 individual sack record for a season and is tied for 4th. He is .5 sack away from this season being the 2nd best of his NFL career. 5 sacks in his final 4 games will tie his best ever.

Ware is half a sack away from becoming the first linebacker ever to have three seasons with at least 15.5 sacks. Right now, he's tied with Lawrence Taylor and Kevin Greene for being the only linebackers with three seasons of at least 15.0 sacks, but that's where the other two both topped out in their third-best seasons. Taylor had 20.5 in his best season, 15.5 in his second-best and 15.0 in his third-best (if Ware doesn't get another sack this season, his three best seasons will be 20.0, 15.5 and 15.0). Greene had 16.5 in each of his two best seasons and 15.0 in his third-best.

Also, if Ware can maintain his sack lead this season, he'll become the first player to lead the league in sacks three times.

and probably still not get DPOY

Lets not forget that sack totals weren't kept through Harvey Martin's career. If they had been I think Ware would be below Martin, although I expect he would end up passing Martin eventually. Barring injury Ware's career should last longer because Ware is more dedicated (and less coked up)than Martin was.

Didnt Harvey Martin have most of his before they started keeping this statistic?

think how many sacks Ware would have if the Refs were tougher about all the times he has been tackled or head locked while rushing the passer. If those OTs were getting flagged anywhere near as often as they should be, Ware would have at least 20 more sacks; maybe more. Because then the OTs would have to try and block him honestly; and most of them would fail big time.

Taylor also came into the league a year before sacks were an official stat.
Most accounts put him somewhere between 9 and 10 for that year. His 2nd year saw 7.5 sacks in 9 games in a strike shortened season

None of that takes away from Ware, but it is useful for context in career comparisons

Ware is amazing. I still really think he'll pass the 100 sack mark by the end of this season.

It's also useful to realize that linemen weren't 350 lb. monsters with relative quickness as well 30 years ago.

I need to go ahead and start setting aside some cash to travel to Canton the year Ware is eligible.
