Ware (Neck) Back At Practice
Posted by rphillips at 12/17/2009 11:43 AM CST on truebluefanclub.com
[FONT=verdana, geneva]Wade Phillips said DeMarcus Ware's availability in Thursday's practice would factor into his status for Saturday against the Saints. Ware, who is recovering from a strained neck muscle, is indeed on the field for practice.

He isn't wearing a practice jersey, and as the team broke into individual drills -- the media's cue to leave -- he jogged over to begin conditioning work with associate trainer Britt Brown and strength/conditioning coach Joe Juraszek.

It remains to be seen how much actual practice work Ware will get, but his neck strength and range of motion have improved. That's a good sign a day before the team leaves for New Orleans.

Coach Wade Phillips said DeMarcus Ware's status for Saturday's game against New Orleans will be determined by how he practices today.

Ware is on the practice field with a helmet but he is not wearing a practice jersey. Not that that means much. I think everybody knows who he is.

He will spend the early part of practice with associate athletic trainer Britt Brown. I would anticipate Ware being listed as limited for practice and questionable for the game.

Ware suffered a neck injury Sunday vs. San Diego but he has shown continued improvement each day.

He has nearly full range of motion and strength. He said on Tuesday the doctors will make the final call on whether he plays or not.

Ware took part in Wednesday's walkthrough but did not practice.

Phillips has said he hopes to know Ware's status before the team departs for New Orleans on Friday.

I've jokingly bagged on Ware a little bit this year, but this right here puts him in the Witten stratosphere of current Cowboys.

It's just a shame this is all for naught.

Very encouraging news. I just hope if he plays he is really, truly ready to go with little risk of additional injury. The neck is not something that you take a chance with.

if he is going to risk his health like this and stick his neck out on the line......this team had better be balls to the wall every second of the game.

if anyone pulls a newman lazy play from last week, they deserved to be dealt the harshest punishment.

I'll be shocked if he doesn't play.....I'm starting to warm up to the idea of an upset.

Then again, I feel this way everytime before the game, only to have my hopes crushed come Sunday.

What a warrior !!! Way to go Ware. Heads up to you.:starspin

he really shouldn't try to play.

Paging Doctor DaBoys4life, you are needed in surgery.

I for one am now very worried for the safety of Ware based on your examination of him. What is your prognosis? Will he ever play again?

Whether it is him or whoever replaces him we MUST get a FEW turnovers this Saturday to upset the Saints.

Agreed! Anybody that can play, should play. And while they're at it, play hard - give it all they got

I agree. Ware is walking on eggshells with this injury. Hope he's smart about this.

I think if the team doctor's think he shouldn't be playing he won't. We just don't need all the internet doctors trying to decide his fate.

do other teams say "Player practiced" when he really didn't but worked with a trainer off to the side?

quit being a hater
 i'm not hating. I'm just wondering if other teams do that too. this article was actually worded right saying "he's at Practice" and not "Ware is practicing". but all the time the dmn reports players are practicing when they're just stretching/running on the side.

To have someone carted off the field for a neck injury and then play him 6 days later seems to be a little quick - even to a laymen.

Fingers crossed.
