VoR said:No doubt, it's already been proven how big of a mistake drafting Ware over Merriman was. Meriman getting 3 sacks against Gallery (a franchise tackle). Ware didn't even get a single pass rush.:laugh2:

How about this:
Manny Lawson, LB SF
News: 49ers LB Manny Lawson, the team's No. 22 overall pick in the draft, had seven tackles in his first NFL game. Lawson, a defensive end in college, also showed his speed when he raced 20 yards down the field to defend a pass to Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald that fell incomplete.
Analysis: Lawson has the potential to be a Fantasy stud in IDP leagues. If he starts to string together a few good games, consider inserting him into your lineup on a regular basis.
That against Carpenter who didn't even suit up, yet start in his first NFL game.
Parcells looks like he's lost his touch on his old talent of picking the LT's,Carsons, Banks and McGinests.
A couple of things.
1st: Merriman got his sacks in the following manner.....
- He beat Lamont Jordan one-on-one.
- Outside pressure flushed Brooks up the middle and right into Merriman's lap. He basically mopped up.
- He beat the RT but Brooks slipped out of his grasp initially ... he turned to escape the other way but Gallery couldn't get out of his own way let alone Brooks' ... and he basically was forced to turn back into Merriman (tripping over him) and Merriman simply had to reach up and help him down.
The Chargers had 6 sacks seperate of Merriman's 3. It was a jail break all night. Merriman is certainly not the only player to be accounted for on that defense ... as illustrated by him being blocked by a RB, ect.
Ware already had a 3 sack game to his credit ... and forced fumbles on all 3 of the to boot. He also had 9 total tackles in the game. He was turned loose that day. Unfortunately, him being turned loose in our scheme is the exception rather than the rule.
2nd: Robert Gallery has proven he's a franchise LT?
As far as Carpenter and Lawson ... it's far too early to tell. Mike Vrabel (who Carpenter's game has been compared to) was castoff from the Steelers and went on to start for 3 super bowl championship teams as an ILB/OLB.
