Ware!!!

One stat played by FOX at the end of the game:

Bledsoe - seven sacks, eleven knockdowns

Brunell - zero sacks, zero knockdowns.

We're better than that.

This was ONE LETHARGIC performance by ALL involved today.

Do the players really hate Parcells' old-school coaching?

Merriman isnt told one thing go after the QB, Ware is put in coverage and has alot more on his plate, its a ridicilous comaparison.
You couldn't be more wrong.

I agree. One thing about that LT/Ware comparison is the freedom that Parcells gave LT to do what he wanted. Ware is doing what he's supposed to do at this point.

Merriman appears to be stronger then Ware. You see Ware struggle when he has to maintain outside leverage in the running game. He cant cover to save his life. But he is learning a new position so lets see next year. I like both of them but Ware seems to be hitting a wall.

Merriman is bigger, stronger, more familiar at position he's playing. That was all out there going into draft.

Ware has more LT edge pass rush skills. Came from a small school and needs to ad NFL weight offseason in.

I'm not giving up on Ware - just disapointed in his play this year. Thought he would bring more.

He sucks. He is overated. I wish would have draft Merriman
Do you think that Zimmer were coaching Merriman he would be playing the same as he did today?

I love Ware and think he's got great potential...BUT he has got to get some more moves Fast!

Damn...where are his coaches?

ware is average, i'm sorry but he is, we should have all seen it coming.

it's the classic story.. a small school guy who never showed much production in college, but is an athletic freak, projected as a second or third rounder by nearly everyone, has a good combine and shoots up draft boards. parcells falls for it and picks him with the 11th pick.

it wouldn't be so bad if ware at least got some pressure on qb's, but he isn't even doing that. no sacks, not creating any pressure. merriman is a BEAST, people on here can try to deny that all they want. he's 2 years younger then ware and much farther along both physically and mentally.

We always seem to pick the wrong players.

Merriman was the safer pick from a larger program and proved himself against better competition.
Ware has potential, but was more riskier. So of course we take him.

Ware may turn out to be just as good, but I dont' see why we always take the gamble over a safer choice.

Ware did have production in college at the 1aa level we also changed him from a DE to a outside linebacker in a 3-4

Ware was playing great early on and has done a lot of good things let the guy grow as a player please people are rookies have been up and down and funny Shawn was being called a bust early on after holding out and then not playing please

Really good DE's/Edge Lb's have to get past really good LT's.

Or they are not really good.

Merriman was the pick. Ware may be as good as Merriman is now in two more years. How good will Merriman be then?

it is stupid to compare them at this point. Ware is coming from a small school playing weak competition. Merriman is coming from a much more big time program.

You can talk position change, etc. all you want and how much or how little both have had to change their play. But the real issue is that Ware is experiencing a much much greater jump in the level of competition he's facing. Ware would have to be much much better than Merriman to put up similar stats this year. You give Ware another off-season to get a little stronger and give him a decent OLB on the other side (Foley in SD is very good and takes a ton of pressure off Merriman) -- then you can complain if he doesn't deliver.

Wow another Ware sucks thread. Imagine that.

If we had taken Merriman and SD got Ware people in here who dont know that the Zimmer is the real problem would be sayin how we shoulda drafted Ware instead of Merriman.

I'm not going to bash Ware because he's okay. But considering we could have had Merriman who is already a best and 2 years younger than Ware.. well enough said.

If, let's say, Jimmy Johnson takes over as captain of this ship next year-there's gonna be 1m's of threads here saying how much of a BEAST he is! :)
