Which of the top two guards is Warford more like?

Chance. Warford is the definition of a power man-blocking offensive guard.

I thought it was pretty interesting that Kiper's latest 2 round mock didn't include Warford at all. Obviously Kiper isn't the end all be all but its seems like Warford has fallen a bit out of favor with guys like Pugh and Long passing him. Not sure if he'll make it all the way to our 3rd but he could be a great value if available.

Warford is RG only so it makes me wonder how interested they are.

Warford is also a power blocking Guard who is a very limited athlete in space. He doesn't fit in with what Garrett and Callahan seem to want in OL. Warford ran a 5.56 40, 22 inch vertical, 8-0 broad jump, 5.10 short shuttle and 7.8 3cone drill. He seems like a pretty limited athlete so I don't know if he is on our radar.

I don't buy that at all. At the senior bowl practices and game he took several reps as a LG and performed very well.

IMO, he's just a slight notch below Warmack (the same type of inline blocker whose athleticism is effective in an extended phone booth) and would be considered no more than 10 spots lower if he were a BCS champion.

This is part of Jerry's reasoning why he won't touch Warmack at 18.

Yes...that is why they brought him in to VR.

No way they would touch him at 18 so they bring him to VR to tell him they will not take him at 18.

I think Warford int he 3rd would be great value, but I would assume and hope that we already have taken an offensive lineman by then...I would then assume that they don't take a 2nd OL that early (in the 3rd)...

but, who knows with our draft history (although it has gotten better after the 2009 debacle)

Warford would be a good pick in the second. He will never make it to the third.

According to many "experts" do t be surprised if he is picked before 18.... Because guards are so highly coveted all of a sudden...

If Warford and Warmack had switched college teams, then they would have switched draft positions also.

Physically, they are very similar with Warford being 15 lbs bigger. Warmack was just on a better team with better coaching. Warford must learn not to drop his head and get overextended on his toes. If he resolves these technical issues, it is possible that he could be better than Warmack.

Having said the above, both are limited in the types of blocking assignments that they can execute due to limited foot speed and agility.

Many fans envision Warmack as Larry Allen; however, they forget that LA was an elite athlete that played LT one season. There is Zero possibility that Warmack could play LT in the NFL.

I tend to agree, that's what I meant about value in the 3rd...if they are going to take an OL in the 2nd (assuming S or DL in the first), I kinda like Armstead if he is around...

Are you 100% certain on that? I don't recall him playing LG in the Senior Bowl game.

They should he highly coveted by a team like Dallas considering the total lack of talent at the position. Other teams have better guards and it will shake out like most drafts with the best guards still on the board in the mid first/ late first. One may go early, but not two or three.
