http://www.modernmythmedia.com/2012/06/warner-bros-looks-to-beall-for-jl-script/

Variety reports that Warner Bros. has hired Will Beall (“Gangster Squad”) to pen a script for a film based on DC’s team of top heroes, the Justice League. Beall’s script has not been turned in, though, and the studio has yet to comment on the story. For now, Justice League sits alongside other DC superheroes with films currently “in development” like The Flash, Wonder Woman, and Lobo.

Before anyone calls copycat, remember that Warner Bros. has been trying to get a JL film off the ground for years with the closest attempt being “Justice League: Mortal” in late 2007/early 2008. That film was a few tax rebates and a WGA strike away from getting made with a cast that would have included a Batman and Superman in a continuity separate from their respective solo franchises. Variety also reports that the timing of the Beall hire suggests that WB was planning this latest project before, not after, the phenomenal box office success of “The Avengers.”

Regardless of where you stand on a JL film, there’s no use getting too worked up just yet. Warner Bros. has been working on several DC projects over the past decade, most of which never made it past scripting. The financial performance of “The Avengers” probably makes a JL film inevitable, but that does not necessarily make it immediate. The reception of “Man of Steel” could go a very long way in determining how quickly WB moves on this.

Unless, of course, WB still thinks it can pull off separate continuities.

they need to make wonder woman and flash movies first and it has to be be way better than the green lantern.

I'd be down for jessica biel, the chick who played kantniss, or the chick in the lightning thief to play wonder woman

I am not much of a DC fan. I was a marvel guy so I will most likely skip any DC movie in the theater.

Know the the truth still have not watched the 2nd one. I waited for the first one of the current series to come to DVD.

Saw both Iron Man, Both Hulks (though only watched the 2nd because it was a double header at a drive in) , Captain America, Avengers in the theater.

I missed Thor due to real life conflicts

I am just a marvel guy always have been

If they are going to have a bunch of solo films that do not tie into the JL movie, and then recast each super hero to do like an independent movie, it will not work. They need to take a page out of Marvels book, and do tie ins.

I wished they would of kept Brandon Routh for Superman though. If they are gonna do that, then I doubt this new SM plays into it, and they will have to wait for Nolan to be done with both SM and BM, and reboot both again.

I enjoy both Marvel and DC. I caught the first Nolan Batman when it came out on DVD, and the 2nd at the midnight showing. I don't know if I can do the midnight showing again at my old age of 27.
Iron Man 1 was good, IM2 was a little better, didn't like the villain soo much. Both Hulk movies were terrible, he is not a solo film character at all. CA was GREAT, and Thor was ok, but needed to be made to explain the back story, otherwise, I felt it was a waste of a movie. The Avengers was a pretty good movie. I have a feeling they might keep Hulk in the IM franchise rather do another solo movie.

I enjoyed Thor but the Avengers & West Coast Avengers was one of the Comics I read as a kid and teen along with Xmen and a few others. I did not watch Dare Devil in the theaters I knew that was going to e a flop when they casted num nuts Aflek as Mat Murdock

I'm way past getting worked up over DC's impotence. They have characters as equally great as Marvel's. With the notable exception of Nolan's Batman franchise (along with the first two Superman movies three decades ago and Tim Burton's Batman two decades ago), they have been pathetic in translating characters to the big screen.

Marvel has drawn a successful blueprint for DC to follow to get a Justice League movie done right. If they take shortcuts to that end, I doubt they will enjoy similar success.

Mostly agree. I believe the quality of Green Lantern was brought down by its three main actors: Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively and whoever that guy was playing the human villain. Otherwise, I think the rest of the movie was pretty good.

I kinda see Jessica Biel. She's athletic, has the right build for the character and has enough acting chops to get it done. Don't see the same in the young actress from The Lightning Thief.

If this had came about fifteen years ago, I would have said that DC should hand the Wonder Woman role over to Lucy Lawless on a silver platter. :) The same goes for Angelica Jolie from that same timeframe. There was an actress who played Aphrodite in The Lightning Thief who would have an outside shot at the role in my opinion: Serinda Swan.

Peter Sarsgard

My question is, if a WW tv show failed to get picked up how is a movie gonna get made? I think they have the same problem with the costume as Marvel/Fox had with Wolverine and the yellow/blue outfit in the comics/cartoon. She is gonna have to be paired with another movie, kinda how Hulk was in the Avengers, imo.

Wonder Woman will be hard to pull off for DC because of the way she was drawn and Linda Carter. I agree Lucy lawless 10-15 years ago would have been a no brainier.

I looked up Serinda Swan omg she does have the look and the anatomy to pull it off does she have the acting talent for that type of role ?

I wonder if DC is kicking themselves Joss Whedon was working on a Wonder Woman script and movie and it got canned after him and Waren Brothers had a fall out over the script and stuff.

The issue with the TV series was they where not going with the short shorts on her and she did not look like Wonder Woman.

The beauty of Wolverine you do not need the suit because it was all about his claws& personality and haircut :D.

Hawkeye was another they dropped the goofy costume in the movie and it worked great and the way they did his quiver was sweet.

I know they did a test screening with the outfit. I tried to watch it, but I could not like 10min into it. What I am saying is, she is not iconic like SM with the blue suit where it would not be SM without it. WW, just has one of those outfits that is not realistic in a movie.

Thanks. I'm glad that he will not be featured in any Green Lantern sequels. :) Unless they do one of those flashback scenes. :(

I believe that nothing short of a Christopher Nolan-type inspired film will get her character on the big screen and be successful. Whoever produces/directs the movie will need to mess this very old character into a mainstream plotline without weighing it down with a clownish comic book visual and dialogue theme. Some movie creators like Nolan "get it" and some others "get it well enough" to make very good on-screen renditions of the characters like Marvel has.

Periodically, DC has modernized Wonder Woman's outfit. I've posted some of the apparel art from her comic title in another thread (forget which). The newer designs should translate well with today's audiences.

If done right, I have little doubt that a Wonder Woman movie could stand on its own. It would demand seriousness (no cutesy), a hard plotline, a solid cast and perfect typecasting for the lead role. The last demand does not require a known actress, but she should not be a Brandon Routh type if she is a relative unknown. The aura of the actress must mirror that of the character she will have the privilege of portraying.

I think that one, properly made, WW movie will greatly boost any Justice League film made afterwards. Nolan's Batman already gives it a lot of juice. Man Of Steel debuts next year (I think). If they FINALLY get Superman right ( :crossed: ), JL will be well received in my opinion. Establish the third and final DC icon into the mix and JL should blast off on opening day--with or without any additional League member characters thrown in.

I think Singer had this BIG idea with Superman, but I think it was a little over his head. I think he let the X-Men success go to his head a little bit. I think they had the lead role right, but to get with Lex Luther, paralleled the original too much considering how Routh looked very identical to Reeves.

Marvel Studios' mashing of B-List characters and turning it into something great has finally forced WB's hand.

I'm just sick of the fan boy in-fighting. Can't we all just be comic book/super hero movie fans and love the genre? No, we have to stick to either Marvel or DC. *sigh*

I for one prefer DC...but I can't be so narrow minded as to not enjoy what Marvel produces.

In my opinion, DC should separate any film ties with Carter's 70's television version--much like Marvel did with Hulk. Even the mediocre original Hulk movie with Eric Bana was worlds different (and accurate) from the television Hulk. If they take that approach going into the project, I think that whoever ends up playing WW will not have to live up to the real-life Linda Carter or 1970s-1980s drawn depictions of the character which many of us are associate with her.

Probably. It's not the first or last thing they should punish themselves for. They can redeem themselves by seeking his assistance again. One thing I hope does not happen is for Whedon to have a Bryan Singer lapse like he did with Superman Returns. Singer's work on X-Men should have motivated him to create something far better than a wash-and-rinse twenty year sequel for Superman. His effort was undeserving of a true mythical worldwide historical legend like Kal-El.

And please! No more Brandon Rouths!

I collected both DC and Marvel titles as a kid into early adulthood. Both comic universes really complement each other in my opinion. Neither are alike, but both give the reader stories which can be very engaging.

Maybe one day within a decade or so of getting itself on track, DC will do a Teen Titans/Terra betrayal television mini-series or film. Back in the mid/late 80's (if I recall correctly), that particular storyline was nearly as good as some of The Uncanny X-Men stuff. That's probably a pipe dream, but I think it's a worthy one.
