Warren Sapp may be cut...

sapp isnt a 3-4NT. why? because he's not very strong, using more of his quickness. in the 3-4, he played DE not NT

In Phillips scheme, he would fit well. Phillips uses speed and quickness, even at NT, as opposed to size and strength. Obviously, you want both but Sapp is a guy who could fit with our scheme. Lord knows, we need guys who can play NT. In a traditional 34, your right, he wouldn't fit well at all but in ours, I think he would.

Wow, well if dummie kiffin does get rid of him it would be cool if we had sapp. specailly if he dropped all that weight and is in his old shape.

It breaks the rules of signing FA. (i.e Redskinitis) Is said FA over 30? Yes. Don't sign him. There maybe some exceptions that can work, but generally it's a VERY bad idea. TO was an exception that worked, so was Reggie White, but just look at the Commanders and you will see many that didn't. As a matter a fact, look at all the FA signings of players over the age of 30 didn't work out so well. (Emmitt Smith, Eddie George, Kurt Warner, etc) The list goes on and on. Sapp is well past his prime. If the Cowboys were to sign him it would be a one year deal only.

We could use the experience and depth at DT. if he's not what he used to be, it could be cheap.... why not at least have a look

I find this news a little surprising I recently saw an interview with him where they talked about how he has lost like 40 pounds and is the best shape hes been in for a long while. With all the salary cap room teams have I cant imagine he will stay a FA for very long.

...and so was Warren Sapp, when the Raiders signed him.

I think he could be a GREAT fit in Phillips' 1-gap 3-4 D.

He was the best pass-rushing DT in football last year, and he's reportedly in terrific shape. He's not done or "washed up".

Spencer is a rookie, and Ellis is a question mark right now. We could use the added pressure up the middle.

Agreed, if the price is right... Though I wouldn't past him to seek out a SB contender for one last (or one of a couple more) run w/ teams like the Colts. He'd be a good compliment to McFarland in the middle (that's a lotta beef)

I seriously dislike Warren Sapp, and have since he was in Tampa Bay. But I can't pretend that I don't fear Ferguson going down.

That being said, they are two different players, and I am not certain Sapp fits in this defense. He is very much like LaRoi Glover (who I still wish wore a star)

Wade's D requires a NT who can penetrate, since this is a 1-gap, not a 2-gap, 3-4

I understand that - but the technique between playing the 0 and playing the 3 is still different, even if you are a one gap. And I have no idea what style he played when they started it in Oakland.

Wow, I guess Al davis is really serious about this kiffin guy to be willing to get rid of Sapp.

But then again, that guy Tommy Kelly is pretty talented. Whatev.
