Was a reason ever given on Steele

Yeah, I wondered that too. I wonder if they tested different O-Line combos or if they just focused on THIS specific lineup. Either way, if Tyron isn't back, we need to switch something because this combo did not work. AT ALL. Connor and Steele made Dak's left side a complete weakness.

It takes a while to switch sides. I have no idea why they would put Steele next to Williams. The O line was terrible.

Coaches have made a lot of good calls with the roster to this point. They blew this one. I cant imagine we wouldn't have been better off with them flip flopped.

Supposedly because of past experience and the fact he got reps during TC at left tackle....I didn’t like it just because his confidence was high on the right and he was playing well. Need to go move him back to the right next week imo

Totally dumb coaching decision. Guy playing lights out on right side and you move him. Collins should of gone to left tackle or the other tackle should of started there.

going to LT for this game?

Seemed wise to keep him where he was playing well and move Collins to LT.
he took most of the reps in training camp at left tackle.
mccarthy talked about that in the press conference announcing who would play where.

Collins would have been worse @ LT. Talk about setting a record for eating yourself out of the league....Dude literally put on 50lbs in a month.

Whatever transpired, this was obviously the wrong (or least desirable), decision. Need Tyron back as soon as possible. That said, I believe the game today was simply a case o the team reading their own press clippings and thinking they could mail one in. It's the NFL - can't do that.

Great question. LT is not his game. He played there at Tech but he can’t do it in the NFL. Didn’t even look like the same player

I'm a bit surprised they didn't switch Collins. Additionally, Collins didn't play that well either. The chap that went in to replace Tyron last week did better. A bit surprised he didn't start.

Was going to say... That 20 pounds or whatever he lost for training camp, he definitely found over his suspension.

And he didn't exactly play like Erik Williams today, either.

He was getting pushed right back in Prescott' lap all day too...explains a lot why Steele was getting so much hype @ RT. Collins was just a shell of himself. Now...we got real problems. We have no depth to count on.

Steele had training camp reps at LT; while Collins hasn't played there since his senior year at LSU in 2014.

However, I have a feeling we might see Collins or even Nsekhe (gulp) at LT next week if Smith is out again.

Heck even a speed bump may have been better resistance at LT today than Steele was, the OL had their worse game of the season...William, Collins right there with Steele. Too many weak links on this chain. Zack Martin is Steele's crutch and they seem to have been playing well together. Needs to go back to RT, Collins i don't know.....can't be worse than Steele or Nsekhe at LT, so put him there.

It was mind numbingly stupid and Garrett-esque. Steele is a RT, not a swing tackle. Collins played LT in college and is left handed. I thought it would be a slam dunk. I guess McGarrett thought otherwise.
