Marcus Spears is going to be a very solid player for the Cowboys. He just got a little slowed by his injuries.

the second parcells decided the 3-4 was on - spears became a logical choice. it was time to bring in the beef.

check his college bio. a very good player - a huge man with a basketball background (which hints at his athleticism, and not just another lumbering behemoth). and he's an intelligent man and solid citizen to boot.

marcus spears was a super choice at #20 and will prolly make his nay-sayers eat their words in very short order.

i'll never have a problem with the Cowboys viewing solid defense as the quickest in-road to realizing a contender. IMO, that defensive-heavy draft of 2005 will be paying dividends real soon.

Just like saying no to TO? It's clear you are wrong and the Cowboys are right...

I made that name before he came here, I am now giving him the benefit of the doubt. You dont see me on here ripping him...at all.

Spears was a good choice....I actually would've loved to see a Matt Jones type here, huge playmaking ability and runs a 4.3, but like previously said, once the 3-4 was decided on, it was the right pick. Canty was a steal too....that was a pretty freakin great draft.

I liken Spears to Bradie James....A stud in college who is learning and still has a huge upside....I am excited about the future of this D we have. It is nice to see Jones lcking up some of this talent long-term...I think he knows the potential, and wants to have this unit really gel together...I'm ready to get back to the glory days---how bout you guys!

You'd do well to act according to your own words.

Thank you.

I was about to reply to this little thing that I call irony, before I saw your post.

Man, I was getting used to remembering you by the Watkins tackle picture.

Sorry bud... I have been thinking of an idea to change that pic... since it wasn't in a cowboys uniform. We got on the Office topic today, so that led to the idea.

Now I need a sweet sig idea.

wierd, i got my student ID from picture day...and my cheeks are white, while the rest of me is brown. I think I have some skin disease. My picture was nice, though. (yeah, that was wayyy OT, but it still beats this thread!)

he's not a troll, misguided fan, yes, but not a troll, I don't think his intent is to cause trouble

And his intent is to inspire serious discussion?

Why would an analysis of last year's draft even matter, given the team is utilizing Spears as a starter in a 3-4 defense, the player is doing well, the whole defense is coming together and perhaps be a top rated defense, and we are wondering why the Cowboys started down this path?

Now I wonder why Jones allowed Parcells to bring in Bledsoe. If the intent of all the personnel moves isn't to build a better team, note, I didn't say "perfect" team, then what is the reason all of the free agents were brought in.

Also I have to laugh at the "team that Jimmy built" I mean look at some of the things that happened there. Irvin was here before Jimmy, Jimmyu drafted Walsh and thought he was better than Troy, Jimmy wanted to draft a linebacker instead of Emmitt, but his scouts talked him into "settling" for Emmitt. I think there may have been other factors involved in making that team other than Jimmy.

And if "ifs' and "buts" were cherry and nuts we'd all have Christmas pie.

Hey...let's see if we can petition Jerry into buying a magic mirror that will tell the organization what players to pick in the draft.

Think about it...it'd be sweet.

"Grrreeeg Elllllis willl emerrge as a staaarting liiiinebacker this seeeason. Caaanty miiiight maaake speaars loook like a waaaasted piiiick."

Wait. Spears got a sack in OUR WIN OVER OUR DIVISIONAL RIVAL WASHINGTON.

A DE that has spent his WHOLE CAREER at ANOTHER position has MADE AN IMPACT this season. D*mn good analysis.

Or...Maybe, just maybe.... I'll refrain from the ill-concieved posts and just be happy that for the first time since the 90's we have depth along the defensive line.

Good God. I love this team, but......Dallas fans......

Of course I would have preferred Merriman at #11 and Ware at #20 but that didn't happen.

Never would have happened.

San Diego was going to take whoever we didn't.
