Sometimes those kinds of plays are called and sometimes they are not in the regular season. Surprising that one was called in the Superbowl at the time it was called for sure.
If it was for sure not a hold I bet the head ref would have discussed it and waived it off as they often do. But once that one ref called it, the head ref could not have reversed it and maintained any integrity since yes, it was a hold. Just not a super duper obvious gotta call it 100% of the time penalty.
Without the hold(s), the receiver might have been able to get to the ball in time (or maybe not but maybe?) and gotten a first down anyway.
If that call happened to the Cowboys, I would have cried conspiracy lol, but objectively it was the correct call (though one only 50% of the time called and usually not in playoff crunch times)
