Jay was in a very publicized fight with Jerry in the locker room.

Yeah. But that seemed to be put to bed.

We weren't hearing or thinking about that during training camp.

Instead we were all imagining Jay in the 4-3. Think Jason hatcher.

Sad.

Imagine if the defense wasn't producing any turnovers like last year? Go ahead and take 3 wins off the board.

This defense turned the team's best defensive player into a liability. Ware would have been much better in the old scheme and Carter played much better as a middle linebacker. The only people that benefited from the scheme change were Hatcher and Selvie and Hatcher will be a FA. Dallas would be much better off go back to the 3-4 and trading Selvie for a high draft pick.

Eh, in my opinion that brings us that much closer to drastic change, not the worst thing in my opinion.

Oh, come on. By that logic, you can put 3 wins on the board for every game that last year's defense didn't set a new NFL record for incompetence.

No?

Last year's team was very bad at creating turnovers.

This defense has unquestionably won us quite a few games with it's ability to create turnovers.

Bend but don't break and create turnovers. We do 2 of the 3.

3-4, 4-3, 3-3-5, 4-4; none will work if the guy in front of you whoops you every play. None will work if you don't have talent. None will work if you don't have the personnel to fit that scheme. None will be that effective if you don't have depth to make up for inevitable injuries.

What would I rather run? I like the 4-3. That's what I played in when I played. It seems like the best defenses run it. Could be wrong about that.

We need to pick one scheme and stick with it and find the right personnel to run it correctly.

Some of the people in here saying YES, were the same ones cheering the loudest when Ryan was let go.

I dont think it was a mistake. This defense was trash last year in the 3-4. It wasn't historically bad, so I guess that's saying something for it, but it was terrible all the same.

Yep.

And they are some of the same ones who were talking about Ware getting 20 sacks after all the talk of him dominating Tyron all training camp.

They love hiding behind short memories and anonymity.

When Ryan was let go I was puzzled as to why he was singled out.

As to the 4-3 question, Parcells always said it was harder to find DE's than 3-4 OLB's. He was right.

And if i recall correctly there was a large contingent calling for a return to the 4-3 for the last 2 years
