4-3 is a superior scheme...and more flexible and accessible. It's why we've had success with guys off the street.

Can you imagine how much trouble we'd be in trying to find guys who can play the 3-4 or trying to find OLBs who can rush the pass?

It'd be ugly.

It doesn't matter what scheme you use if you can't get to the QB. We have had a revolving door on the d-line this year. Hopefully this will be addressed in the off-season which I expect to start immediately after week 17. Defensive line help and a new HEAD COACH are the biggest needs of this team.

I'm sorry, what part of of what you are watching out there every week qualifies as "success?"

This is on pace to be the worst defense ever to wear a Cowboy uniform. How much more "ugly" exactly could anything be?

What we run is fine against the Giants and their stodgy schemes. But Peyton manning, trestman, mike McCoy, and Sean Payton see the minimal rush, the bad coverage safeties and coverage linebackers and just unmercifully crush us. Carr and Scandrick do a good job on the very quick to average receivers but I've never seen guys so crushed by size at receiver. Just slap the ball when the receiver brings it down.

I can't believe we have fans among us who didn't see this DL situation coming a mile away.

We never seemed to have the right pieces in places to effectively execute the 3-4 and now we have the same problem with the 4-3. Remember how awesome the 3-4 defense was during the final game against the Commanders last year?

I think the biggest problem was not the switch to the 4-3 but the hiring of a dinosaur to run it

They gave up 28 points in that game despite Romo throwing 3 picks. This year that would be one of our best defensive efforts of the season.

I'm going to post this stat again that I used earlier. In the last 4 years this team has drafted 2 defensive linemen. You cant run a competent defense with just vets and retreads, you have to invest and this team failed to do that.

I think that was two mistakes. It was completely idiotic to switch back to the 4-3. The defense of it was probably the most illogical you could ever come across. To think you build a defensive philosophy on the remote chance that you suffer a rash of injuries that would otherwise cripple any defense. But not this one. Street free agents can walk in and play it. Of course at a street free agent level, but hey.

All things equal, I'll take a 3-4 defense over a 4-3. Considering we were already entrenched in that scheme, it made no sense to make the switch. It was merely the scenery change the owner used to distract the fans one more year. Rob was the scapegoat. He's belly laughing right now in New Orleans.

Kiffin might have been a great coordinator at one time, he had great players whenever he was productive, but he's at an age now where I'm not sure why you would even expect him to thrive. It was just such an odd hire when you're trying to win something while Romo, Witten and Ware still have something left. The clock's ticking. It's now or never with this group. Let's completely revamp our defense and bring in a 70 year old who hasn't coaching in the league in years to run it.

You saw Jay never playing and Crawford going out 1st day of training camp and Spencer needing microfacture surgery?

What are the powerball numbers for tomorrow?

You did not need to be Nostradamus to see Ratliff's days numbered and he specifically was supposed to be a centerpiece of this defense. What is the most frightening is that the one person who had the most knowledge of the situation was in complete denial about his ability or desire to play.

Except that he played right around the time this year that putting him on the PUP suggested.

And he was supposed to be back last year during the playoffs (had we made it).

We won't ever know what went on behind the scenes.

But anyone who says they saw our Dline situation being what it is today at the start of training camp is an outright liar. Looking at you @Risen Star

Ratliff should have been considered done. He's been done as a productive player. What is Tyrone Crawford exactly? When did he become a proven player? Didn't Anthony Spencer battle injuries last year and all offseason? Who didn't know this team lacked any young talent along the DL and the few established players were all aging and dealing with injuries?

What we have here is the people that are truly clueless can't stand the fact that there were those that weren't. I dimed this DL situation just like the OL before it. The writing was on the wall. You just had to have the ability to read it.

Worse than 32nd?

Worse than two games of zero opponent punts?

The bar couldn't be lower.
