Hmmm... I guess I wouldn't be upset if we couldn't get McFadden and drafted an "elite" Cb instead then "Settled" for Ray Rice with the #32 pick in the draft. :D

You think we need Rice more than we need another WR on the 1st day?

I like all the guys mentioned above , but I'm really keeping an eye on Jonathan Stewart from Oregon right now . I saw him play against Michigan and was impressed . Jerome Bettis type guy at 5-11 230lbs. and pretty good speed for a big guy . He's averaging 7yds. a carry and has 5 TDs so far . I don't know how well he would complement M. Barber , but he'd make somebody a hell of a back .
If Dallas decided to feature Barber and look for a different 3rd down back , I'd be interested in Chris Johnson from East Carolina . The kid is 5-11 200lbs. and runs a 4.20 40 time . He's never put up great rushing #s , but is an outstanding receiver out of the backfield .

In my mind, Jones is gone next year and we'll have Barber in the fold... so, I feel like we'll need a speedier complement to him moreso than a big bruiser that is in the same mold as Marion.

I do like Ray Rice a lot, but we might could find a good RB to compliment Barber in the second round.

I wouldn't mind us going CB/WR in some combination with our two first rounders... and then nabbing the best available RB in round 2.

I feel like it's easier to find a RB in round 2 than it is to find a WR or CB in the second. Elite CB's and WR's are usually found in the first, it seems like. Good RB's are found in just about any round.

The last player to rush for 100 yards against USF? Ray Rice.

I think Rice would be perfect for our offense. He's the guy to complement Barber. You talk about Thunder and Lightning? Rice would be what we all hoped Jones would be IMO. I love that guy.

Mike Hart. Man can break tackles and has superior vision. The ability to break tackles is something most of the other top RBs coming out of college lack.

I agree on WR/CB in the first round . I'd love to end up with WR DeShaun Jackson with the early pick and CBs M. Jenkins or J. King with the next , but I'm just dreaming . I think I'm the only person on this board who actually likes the guy , but I would go after Michael Turner in free-agency and eliminate one of our needs going into the draft . I just love the guys combination of speed and power .

I'll take Malcolm Kelly late in the first round and try and nabb Jenkins or King in the early first. While small speedy receivers are fun, big strong possession receivers have a more consistent impact. Malcolm Kelly looks like he could be TO's replacement. (look just freakin like him while playing)

I don't know about you, but I don't want a Sanatan Moss type receiver being my #1 receiver.

EDIT: Man, Kelly has BIG-TIME written all over him.

Pass on McFadden, and draft either Ray Rice or Mike Hart. They will be better all-around NFL backs than McFadden.

my dream would be king with our first pick and rice or hart with the 2nd pick. i think you can get quality wr's in the 2nd.you have to get cb's early to get good ones and rice and hart are too good to pass up if they are still there with our 2nd 1st rnd pick

Hey WV - What are your thoughts on Slaton these days?

I'm a big fan of getting a young, good player in free agency any time you can because they can help your franchise for years to come and it's nearly as good as drafting them yourself. Leonard Davis is a perfect example of that.

If we could get Turner to replace Jones and still have all of our draft picks, that would be terrific. Then we could go with BPA at WR, CB, etc.

I love Steve Slaton, I think he continues to improve, but I don't see him as the main back on his team in the NFL.

He is at best 200 lbs, which just can't pound the middle all day in the NFL.

But he reminds me of Tony Dorsett so maybe I am wrong.

His speed is scary.

I would love to see him wear the Star and be a change of pace to Marion Barber, but I am biased I am sure.:D

Slaton will make some noise because of his speed. It will be interesting to see how he is used by a pro Off Coordinator.

Thanks. I remembered you liked him and was a little surprised that you didn't mention him in your earlier post (re: Hart and Rice). But now I understand - you aren't seeing Slaton as an all purpose NFL back.

With all the hype that Marion Barber is getting I am not sure someone isn't gonna be willing to give up a first rounder for him as an RFA. I am actually a little worried we might lose him if he keeps running the way he is and keeps getting hyped up. He makes the probowl and we might be screwed. I would hate to need two RB's next season, I like thompson but not as a starting back.

You will have to explain just how Jerry will let him get away. Not enough cap room? Jerry is stupid? A team can just take him away? I don't understand when people get worried about us losing guys like Witten, Romo, Ware, Tnew, MB3, etc... NOT GONNA HAPPEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trade Browns pick for Larry Fitzgerald if he wants out of Arizona and Dmac is gone.

Not a bad idea at all. This is likely TG's last year. Replacing him with Fitz would be ok with me. :D

Rice is nice, but Brian Leonard is better. ;)

Wow. You probably shouldn't comment about any college football players anymore.

Not only is Leonard NOT better then Rice, but he's NOT in college football anymore. We freakin' PLAYED against Brian Leonard, Genius.

CATCH17;1718214 said:
What do you guys think of Mike Hart?

I think he runs with a lot of heart (no pun intended) but he gets knicked up A LOT. Not necessarily game ending or game missing injuries, but it seems every game he's limping to the sidelines for something.

I was high on him at one point, till I realized he leaves the field too often. I'll take him if he's there on the second day.

I swore he was a senoir *this* season.

Again, you shouldn't comment about college football players (or any football players really) if you didn't even know Leonard was in the NFL.

And even if he were still in college, there's a reason Rice took his job.

I think you shouldn't draft for need, first of all. But now that you mention it, yes. We aren't as bad off at WR as we will be at RB after JuJo leaves.

Let's say we lose TG. We still have TO, Crayton (most likely), Hurd and Austin.

When we lose JuJo we'll have MB3 and TT. That's it.

I'm not saying you're right or wrong, but I think if we go into next season with T.O., Crayton, and Hurd (I'm not even going to include Austin, as he has yet to prove to me he does anything but take up a roster spot at this point) we will be a huge trouble.

Don't forget Turner is a free agent, and I'm sure we could draft a RB in the later rounds to back up Barber, if that's the route we go. It has been proven time and time again that you can find RB's in just about any round.

What if we do as you suggested and T.O. gets hurt, are you comfortable with Crayton as #1 and Hurd as #2? Even if we end up drafting a rookie WR in say the 2nd or 3rd, there's no guarantee they will be ready, look at Meachem, I don't even know if he's suited up for a Saints game and they took him 23rd overall.

I don't like drafting for need either, but this is just the situation we find ourselves in.

Yes, cuz the combination of TO, Crayton, and Hurd has been such a huge hinderence to our passing offense, right?

If not for that crappy lineup, Romo might actually be worth a darn. Oh wait...

I just don't see it. He seems to get dinged up a lot. For a short guy he seems to run upright. I'm thinking 3rd or 4th round would be a good time to find a back to compliment Barber since Julius will likely be gone. Use the earlier picks to fill other needs.

Ummm. Slight misconception on your part. Although rice gets some big runs, he almost never takes them to the house. He is run down almost every time. Definately NOT "lightning".
