Let help those poor eyes of yours

Frames on the left show Tyron hooking the defender under the armpit. The frames on the right show him holding not letting the defender disengage. Look at the gif below and you should be able to tell. If not get those eyes checked!

It looks like he slightly pulled the Jersey which is technically a hold.

I don't see him hooking him under the arm pit.

I have rewatched that play several times and I do not see a hold. Please tell me the refs did not come up with a "phantom hold" to stop the clock and give Seattle one last chance. Please tell me that is not what happened here.

If it was legit, I got no problem with it. However, if the refs called a phantom hold to intentionally stop the clock and help Seattle................wow, maybe some of the conspiracy theorist are on to something........LOL

Has anybody else seen a legit hold on that play? And if refs are going to start doing this, we are going to have to start taking a knee because 1 min on the clock is more than enough time to go down the field if you are playing Aaron Rogers for example. I would just hate to lose a game because a phantom hold stopped the clock.

So has anybody else seen a hold on that play, was it legit?

Call me crazy if you want, but I do think this was something that the NFL wanted. Add drama to the game and pull in the ratings for a final Seahawks drive. I have re-watched it over and over, as well… There is nothing on tape that proves Tyron held.

You aren't really thinking this through. Even if you make it a 25 second clock, you pretty much destroy all but about 15 seconds of the benefit of the call. Gee, decline and lose 25 seconds or accept and have to go another down that eats up 40.

Since both of those options basically kill the team that needs the ball back, you are inviting offenses to commit penalties at will to run out the clock.

No. I'm saying that if the penalty is DECLINED the 25 sec play clock should start once they spot the ball. If the penalty is not important enough to be accepted, then it didn't really happen. The offense doesn't get to run an additional 40 secs off if they accept the penalty, just the same 40 secs that would have run off without a call. The Defense has to decide on yardage or time. If it was 2 and 1, they would accept the penalty.

They get the benefit of the stopped clock without a penalty actually being official.

I agree in general; although, I think the rules are already too complicated.

Typically speaking if keep your hands inside of the guys shoulder pads, they don't call holding. I get that according to the letter of the law it is a violation but much like speed limits it is not strictly enforced.
