Was the roof collapse motivation for this team?

I think the roof collapse is what solidified this team, after they saw the cowboys assistant that was cripled for life, and the way coach Joe D battled and fought hard to coach. I think also that after coach Joe D went through surgery for the Commanders game, this even motivated the players even more. Granted, the hiring of keith brooking added to this, but that roof collapse shed light on the players that your not around here for ever, and if coach joe d could work hard, so should they, without any excuses.

Nicely put, cowboyjoe.

I've thought about this several times, but because the Cowboys struggled a bit to start the season, the roof collapse probably wasn't a rallying point. Of course Joe D and Rich Behm are inspirations, so in an indirect way, the answer could be yes. But more than anything, it was the us against the world dynamic - TO, December, cupcake, "big games," etc. One thing is clear though, if the Cowboys manage to win it all in Miami next month, the story of this season will start with the practice facility collapse and end with them hoisting the Lombardi.

Didn't the roof collapse force them work at high schools where they had to take bus rides together and whatnot? If so, I can see it possibly developing chemistry if the team was forced to spend more time together than they otherwise would have. Not totally outside the realm of possibility imo.

And this team does seem to be tight-knit.
