Was Tolbert really that bad, or was it a lack of getting targets? Being a 3rd rounder, the hopes were higher on him as they should have been, but he also came from a smaller school. Did he play himself out of Dallas by not being good, or could it be that he became an issue at times due to a lack of playing time???? Please give your thoughts

He was misused his rookie year, improved his 2nd and 3rd year but got trapped behind Flournoy/Turpin this year. He never was able to fulfill the WR2 as hoped but hasn't been terrible. He had made some key catches this year and played well when needed. But it's highly unlikely he will be retained in FA.

Do you think he had trade value at the trade deadline and that we maybe should have made a push (probably didn't have anyone knocking on the door!)

Tolbert is in his walk year and the Cowboys realize they weren't ever bringing him back. I think he's peaked as that WR 4 type player. Flournoy has much more upside.
Tolbert had flashes, but it just wasn't enough, I hope we stay away from the small school projects, get some guys that have played games against top teams to get them more ready for the nfl

Flournoy is proving he is much more of a big play maker, run after catch and separation guy than Tolbert, imo.

Flournoy can affect the entire field, while tolbert is much more of a limited possession receiver.
And his knack & experience for the game is really developing and emerging.

Much more than i could say for trade bust Johnathna Mingo .

Flournoy has more speed and explosiveness than Tolbert, that much is certain.

I am no scout but when Dallas drafted Tolbert, I read all I could about him and came to the conclusion he was a poor man's version of Michael Gallup. And that's basically how it turned out.

I forget if this was his fourth year, but I give him 0 chance he makes the team next year. I'm more interested in if they decide to re-sign Mingo, not that I think it is the right move, but more realistic they would.

Good observation small school although Flournoy from an even smaller program . I can see a team with a young QB like a Giants or Minnesota fitting in Tolbert as a possession receiver who stretches the chains can find the end zone . He made a key 4th down catch against Wash late .

WR Tolbert has sucked. Third rounders Terrance Williams and Michael Gallup were much better 3rd rounders.

The real Tolbert, Tony Tolbert, the 6'6" LDE, 4th rounder 1989, was the starting LDE on three Super Bowl teams. I love the taller defensive linemen. They block passes. They force the QB to arc their throws higher, leading to more CB and S breakups or INT's

Tolbert has got quite a few targets, but he's not very efficient with them. He is a WR4 type in the Noah Brown mold... I'm not sure if he's even as good as Brown.

Mingo is still under contract for 2026. So he'll be fighting Flournoy for WR 3 assuming Turpin remains the gadget guy.

Depends. Which would have been greater - any draft pick acquired for him or a comp pick?

I would have preferred a trade. Because a comp pick can be off set by signing another FA. So you basically just screw yourself.

He’s an unrestricted FA next season zero chance he’s coming back

That's assuming Jerry and Stephen sign free agents.
