Was Watching Cowboys Break on DC.COM

Yeah, the Jax game was terrible too.

But I think you may have hit on the key earlier: Romo knocked out for the year. Let that happen again (please don't) and see how hard they play.

What is so funny about that partial year is that I think it was Garrett's best as a head coach at least as far as getting his end of the deal (the offense) together. Beginner's luck, I guess.

Garrett has to be fired no matter what. Even if we do make the playoffs.

He will not get canned if Dallas makes the post season. He still has a year left on his contract. Practically a zero chance of that happening no matter how much it is wished for. I wonder if a loss in a win and go home game versus Philadelphia would be enough.

Family.

Portrait.

This isn't news, tho. Is it? Hasn't the general thought process was that Garrett had to win a playoff game to keep his job? If not, maybe I assumed something else. Winning the division wasn't the end goal. Making noise in the playoffs was.

I thought Jerry pretty much made this clear at the end of last season...............

so it's really not news!

I don't know if it's true or not but it needs to be true.

Garrett needs to be coaching QB's in Tampa Bay or something. Not coaching the highest earning franchise in the NFL.

Helped by the fact that Philly essentially threw that last consequence-free game in December - otherwise, Jason would have had his same old .500 record.

Actually the Jax game was 35-17. Still, we made David Garrard look like a Hall of Famer, and we were never really in that game.

Actually we were in that game if not for a bunch of Kitna interceptions. The offense was moving the ball, and if I remember right, we got stuffed at the goal line just before half (Garrett and his fascination with the Jumbo package), but if we had scored, we would have had the lead. The GB game was the only one people could realistically say the team quit. 1-6 with Romo down and playing a SB team? Not that surprising.

Not to crash down on that, because you're right about Kitna throwing the INT's, but go back and look at the scoring summary. We scored a FG intially, and then we gave up 28 unanswered points between the 2nd-3rd quarters. We should have had 2 more TD's in the 2nd quarter. One drive ended deep in their territory by an INT (which Jax quickly converted into a TD), and the second was the goal line bif that you mentioned. That drive wouldn't have given us the lead, but it would have cut the deficit to four. So, other than those things, the offense was pretty good. The defense never showed up.
