According to his book "Instant Replay" in 1968 Jerry Kramer made $28,000 and that was a fairly high salary for a lineman back then. You can't look at today's salary's and say that the same applies for yesterday's players at yesterday's salaries. BTW they are not paying yesterday's prices for today's medical care either.

Now I agree that it would be nice for the players today to contribute to the retired players care.

But I don't know how anyone in their right mind can say that they are accountable for those guys.

That's they way of sports. The players in the earlier eras couldn't make the kind of money todays players get.

Magic Johnson made headlines when he signed that 25 year 25 million dollar deal. Now you have some average and below average players in the NBA making 10 million a year.

They don't OWE Magic and Bird anything, but we all know the league is where it is because of the efforts of the great players from that era.

And also, how do you make the NFLPA foot the bill, but not the league? It's not just the players that have benefitted, but the entire league.
