yeah, the only hope any skins fan has for the rest of the season is campbell playing well.
Honestly, I didnt even care how bad our defense played to today. All I could do is sit there and laugh in amazement about how bad we are. With campbell actually having a decent day, it helps ease the pain of this horrible season(but it doesnt take all the sting away :laugh2: )
The defense just flat out stinks. Our DE were horrible. Holdman got blocked by everybody and even the waterboys all day long. Marshall stank, for the second week in a row, he's definitely regressed since last season. Our FO has some type of problem giving big money to our own homegrown talent and not overrated free agents. I mention this because if we still had Pierce this wouldn't even be a problem.
Campbell played better than I expected. Very good for his first outing. That last TD was a fluke, but he had plenty of passes that were dropped and they should've been first downs. Jason did two things, which prove why he's actually a better quarterback at this point than Brunell. 1) He actually used his pocket, instead of dropping too far back on every pass play and giving the advantage to the DEs. 2) He didn't throw simply "safe" passes. He threw passes over the middle. He actually TRIED to make a play. Notice the abscense of the overused WR screen?
I don't like his throwing motion though. The passes get there with speed, and his accurate enough, but his mechanics bother me. Some of his passes over 20 yards would've gone for big plays if he'd been a bit more accurate on them. The sacks he took weren't his fault.
Although this was just one game, he could look horrible next week, I was encouraged by this performance and I'm expecting him to really develop during these last 6 games. Next year could be his year.
