I don't know how to tell you this but when it comes to the QB position, we're still in those years.
Not really. In comparison to where we were then, I do think that, between Romo and Dak, that we've had drastically better play since then. I do not think the failures in Romo's career were entirely on him either. I think, for example, Murray doesn't fumble and/or the call goes the other way in the Packers playoff game, then Romo would be viewers in a very different light. I say this because we had already destroyed the Seahawks earlier that season. Thus, assuming we beat Seattle like I think we would have, we would have played the Patriots. I still argue that we were a better team that year than the Patriots were. So, I think we would've won number 6 if not for that.
As for Dak, he's a solid QB in a different way. I do wish he'd cut down on the interceptions, but I like the fact that he's becoming a bit more of a gunslinger. I think one area that Dak, and Romo to an extent, have issues with that are out of their control is the frequent dropped passes by the WRs/TEs. I don't know if there's a team that has more drops than we do, and I saw several passes that should have been easy catches that were dropped. Some of the drops were on Dak, but I think a large portion were well thrown balls. I do think that drafting a QB, as I've said time and time again in this thread and another thread, would be good for getting some competition for Dak. I think the time has come for him to face competition with the knowledge that QB could take his spot in two seasons. That's where I think this should go. I think our D, other than CB and NT, is in a spot where it's in a very good position to succeed. I think the only real other area of concern is T and maybe WR (unless Hilton stays another season). So, if we're going to take a QB, especially in round 2, this is the year to do it.
