Washington Post: Jason Taylor Almost Had Leg Amputated If He Waited..

I hope he doesn't already have nerve damage in the leg that won't heal.

Yikes.......

That would have given Heather Mills a leg up in the competition last year....

Jason would have gotten "Serve'd"

So, he's supposed to play the season on one good leg?

Commander fans are getting very desperate if they're sinking that low.

Sadly, it was one of OUR fans that made that stupid comment.

The Skins have no luck with players whose last name is Taylor, do they?

And he is Zach Thomas' brother-in-law, IIRC...

I thought Taylor had a divorce a while back and Zach is no longer a brother in law? Guess I missed the boat.

Hopefully Taylor can play again, very odd injury.

I didn't get the jokes about Taylor either, but I assumed they must not've known.

Some folks are just looking for an excuse ... I'll say no more.

That is really bad news for Taylor.

I just thought it was a routine thing with his leg like simple bruising or something and they were just keeping out of a game or two as precaution and to let it heal.

Did not realize it was something that serious.

Hope he has a quick recovery. Seems like a pretty good guy.

So the 'Skins got, what, 2 1/2 games for their second rounder? They really have some bad luck. But they position themselves to have bad luck, so they can only blame themselves, I suppose.

Hope Taylor has a quick recovery. He's a class act.

I have been as critical as anyone with how we throw away draft picks and overspend for players in the past but this just isn't the case with Taylor.

We lost Phillip Daniels for the season on the first day of camp as well as his backup. We were in a tight spot. A second rounder for Jason Taylor, even at this point of his career, is not unreasonable.

The front office has actually gotten a lot better in this regard in the last couple of years. Should we have not taken 2 WR's and a TE with our top 3 picks? Fair criticism. I really wish we would draft more lineman but this has been going on for many years.

Anyway, I hope he is alright. I am still in shock reading that he almost had his leg amputated.

I think that he's referring more to the lack of drafting and emphasis for free agent wheeling and dealing during the Daniel Snyder era than just this offseason.

Get better JT, just remember to play like crap against the Cowboys!

Take a soon to be 34 year old player, who is extremely undersized for his position, who spent the entire offseason dressing up in spandex and sequins and doing the cha-cha with D list celebrities instead of getting his body prepared for the football season and stick him on the freaking STRONG SIDE and sit back and watch in amazement as his body breaks down and call it a fluke injury (not to be confused with his fluke injury that almost got him in the preseason).

Who could have possibly seen this coming?

Cap hell. It is real. And it has been in Washington for years now. It's just too bad they didn't extend him before his career threatening injury. Or did they?

Wow, that's insane.

Even if he is a Commander, hope he makes it through ok and gets healed up.

Sounds like he had a blood clot that cut off the circulation and the tissue/muscle just started to die. But, if that was the case, there should've been symptoms a lot earlier.

Doctors told Jason Taylor that he "would be done forever" if he hadn't undergone Monday's emergency calf surgery.

Taylor was at risk of amputation had he waited longer due to nerve damage and "tissue necropsy." The surgery has him out indefinitely with no timetable for return. "Nobody knows when the body is going to respond," he said.

Don't know much about this injury but I can see that Taylor won't be much help this year for Washington and his career is on the done side.

i do hate this. i wish him the best...

Freak injuries can happen to anyone at any time. The guy has played in 133 straight games and people think it was a risky trade. Pretty silly.

He'll be back and ready to go in a week or two.
