Washington releases DT Jonathan Allen

Barkley was a “big name but injury prone the past few years”. S*** happens, but not if you don’t try.
Its risky. Sometimes you get lucky

For the most part the trend is they get injured again as they are also getting older.
Barkley was an exception....Cowboys need certainty and not exception

How on earth did those teams build for the future? Patriots and Chiefs were good teams before Mahomes and Brady came along lol.
EXACTLY. THEY BUILT/ and continued to build on what they had; GETTING RID OF GOOD PLAYERS TO GET BETTER.
Something the Big and Little Enos show has never figured out

I think you’re confused on what those teams did. Patriots got rid of players on their way to decline they for sure had good players.

I’m sorry. The Osa deal is not as bad as I thought it might be, but I still would rather have Allen for maybe 12-15 per year.

Unfortunately, Allen isn't a good run stopper. It's a cause for concern, since it's a huge need for us.

He's more adept at rushing the QB, which he's somewhat better suited to for a DT. Buyer beware.

Not overwhelming size, strength, or speed. Allen Was injured last year, had a better DT next to him, and could wind up being Gerald McCoy type FA signing with the best days behind him.

I would sign him for the vet minimum with playtime incentives or pass and sign a talented restricted FA or trade for Jeffery Simmons who is better bigger stronger faster and younger. Simmons is in the non-guarantee stage of his contract and has a reasonable cap value for the next 2 years. Is related to Jason Hatcher.

They could. They could give him a 3 year.deal if he is healthy.

This is where you need a coach willing to pound on the table for his guy. One bad thing about losing Zimmer is I have little doubt he'd have aggressively pursued DT help.
