Shoot, I still haven't beat Dark Souls 1:oops:. Trying to kill the initial knight in the ruins and the merchant in the castle didn't get me off to a great start (don't play while heavily intoxicated type game;)). Had to reboot the game 3 times from mistakes like that and the proper way to allocate upgrades, etc. (endurance and vitality). Now have rebooted it the third time and am still relatively early into the game but finally doing it the right way. Really enjoying this type of experience (hardcore: learning by identifying the-weak spots via dying and using some personal innovation). It is refreshing in comparison to the hand holding experiences that are so common in the majority of titles.

I knew Dark Souls was going to be a different type of game when your first boss is 5 minutes in and he`s 10 times your size. The learning curve is pretty steep but once you figure it out its fun. Wait till you reach the sewers or blight town. Epitome of frustration right therrrr.

Yeah I took some time off bw the reboots just to play some new buys I made. But you're totally correct in that once you take the time to understand the intricacies of each enemy's attacks and the correcting my initial mistake of over leveling with strength, wearing a bunch of armor and being too hulky to make successful rolls/counters, etc. But great game (recommended to me by Ren on this board) and looking forward to picking up DS 2 on the cheap in a few weeks.
