I keep wondering about this. Every game I watch, I see receivers get the ball with space around them. Either by scheme or good routes, receivers seem to often end up in open spots on the field.

Makes you wonder if it is our WRs running poor routes or the other teams has better CBs?

You know who always looks open for the Cowboys? Witten. Why? Because he runs great routes and knows how to set up the defender. Do our WRs do that? To be honest IDK because it is hard to tell from watching them play on TV. Need to see it live or watch coaches film.

Bobby Carpender - he just stands out on film as player who did virtually nothing except waiving his arms at the crowd. .

:lmao2:

It was the first time this week that something made me laugh.

Very nice rundown, much appreciated

Curious if you got to make some obs on the offense, particularly receivers that may have been open as well as Martellus

There were quite a few plays on that game where Spencer beat his man ony to have a second guy help out. Wade even alluded to that by saying they max protected a lot and only sent 3 guys out.

There was a play where he absolutely abused Boss and was getting to Manning only to have the back (who was running to get out the backfield), stop to help him out. Collingsworth even pointed this play out.

On another play, he beat the RT with an inside move and had a clear path to Manning only for Chris Snee to come help out.

Those are just two off the top of my head. Brooking also blew the fullback up and other guys in the backfield on several run blitzes.

If you totally whiffed on those guys, I just can't put much into your opinion on the game.

I thought Spencer had a good game, but I have a short memory. I was at Pluckers and I walked out when they were setting up for the field goal. After that, I just tried to forget it all. But I sill love my team for playing a hard fought game. And they did fight hard. I give them that much. I think this team is gelling, finally. Even though we lost, I saw some good things out there.

...manningham and smith did'nt seem to have too much trouble...matter of fact they looked all-world...

...we as fans need to decide just what the Cowboys are...because opinion keeps evolving like a chameleon...

...Romo is running out of excuses plain and simple...continuing to blame receivers for his bad decision-making is plain silly...there's going to be no place to hide for either him or Phillips if this all goes south again in the end...this guy makes too many mistakes...it does'nt matter how much talent he possesses...

...the consensus opinion here is that Dallas is a better team than the Giants and if they come to Dallas with the injuries they had sunday night and still come away with a win what then?...paper does'nt win games...execution, consistency and good decision making does...

How dare u say a bad word about Choko Romo? lol:laugh2:

A bit early to say this for certain but I'm inclined to agree with you McCoy. If our QB has an average game, we win. If the ball bounces funny one time for the GMen, we win. I mean, we had mistakes, especially in our pass coverage but we totally nullified the strongest part of the Giants game. We controlled both sides of the line of scrimage against a very good team IMO.

We didn't hear any infighting after the lose and we had our leaders step up and accept responsability. All of those things are very positive.

This is a game we should have won and I think we all know that. We just didn't and that's as much luck as execution IMO.

I am very optimistic about this.

Spencer just looked ok. He tries to go to the edge so hard he falls down alot. Looks like he is missing and outside to inside move I see Ware use at times. Another guy who I thought played ok was Hatcher. He seems better at rushing the QB in nickel defense than Bowen. Hatcher should get more plays.

Newmann looked very quick in run support. When you watch the play in slow motion Newmann can close on runner very fast. He just gave up some plays because he doesnt appear to be playing the ball and seems content with just trying to cover receiver.

Felix has great vision and really sets up his cutbacks well. But he gained little weight this offseason and might have sacrificed some top end speed but initial burst is still there.

Roy Williams is excellent blocking receiver. On tape you really cant see his routes well to see what kind of seperation he is getting.

Offensive line played very well. Only wiff I saw was Gurode who completely missed a block and it caused Romo to get hit while making throw. The line did alot of good things and were definitely communicating well. Colombo and Davis (when pulling) were very effective in sealing off the outside while Anderson was blowing up the linebacker....the gapping holes were all over the place. Technically the best blocking scheme I have seen in while from this offensive line.

Wood, did you notice Hatcher being held on that last drive? I thought I saw to clear holds on Hatcher but nothing was called. Was not sure if it was my wishful thinking or if he actually was being held from the interior of the Gline.

I did see some clear holds on Hatcher as well. But they weren't calling a lot of holding in the game which favored NY more than us IMO.

It might be his sore quad, too, that costs him a little home-run speed. It doesn't take much to turn a 4.4 into a 4.5.

one final note: Alot of Giants success in pass protection was their ability to direct the Cowboys pash rusher together and just bottle them up. On several plays they had three cowboys pass rushers shoulder to shoulder and just created a wall in front of them. That left Spencer one on one and Ware double teamed while max protecting. Until we see Spencer start to beat one on one blocking...the Defense might not put as as many sacks as we like.

He's never been particularly fast in the longer distances. Great burst, not equally great top end speed.

Since I can't bear to watch the game again, did we play any 46 schemes against the giants?
This seemed to free Ratcliff last year.

Demarcus Ware - this guy goes all out on every play...

Spears - another one of these guys who is just a non factor on too many plays.

Brooking - dont see upgrade here from last year.

I agree on Ware and Spears.

I strongly disagree re Brooking. Brooking is a great . . . fishing buddy for Wade.

What can you say? We got some tough breaks and our pass defense did worse than our quarterback for sure. But when guys like Newman get called on a cheap pass interference and then comes back to make a great 3rd down stop to give us the ball back, it's a good thing. I saw many, many good plays out there and I'll say we had more good plays than bad. I can count at least 3 times where I caught myself saying, "damn, they just got lucky."

While he did have some bad plays, all the harping on Romo comes from amateur armchair quarterbacks, too. So that doesn't worry me because I'm a pro.

Happy posting, ABQ. :)

I noticed this, too. He's also a good tackler for his size and seems to use good technique.

If we can get that kind of play from them all year, we'll be fine as long as Red Balls calls more running plays.
