Watching the Texans O-line...

I remember the Cowboys losing to a 2-7 Rams team at home I think in '92, and in '93 a bad loss at home to the Browns with Novacek stopped at the one inch line... ***t happens, and we haven't lost our last game by any means.

Consistency is the key and we need to find a way to win on the road and we MUST take the game tomorrow. I think if we win tomorrow, we might go unbeaten at home. It will be a much bigger win then what is being talked about currently. Here's why:

I think the division is going to come down to the Boys/Jints. And we have about as even teams as possible. We will defeat the Eagles at home. I have total confidence in that.... that will be "T.O.'s redemption" game.

After the Giants we will face a vulnerable Carolina team that is really struggling moving the football.

Then the Skins... who are ready to mail it in. The Cards stink, and then we get Indy. This will be the "legitimizing" game. We will win and then defeat TB on Thanksgiving with not much problem.

We then play the Giants again, and frankly I think we drop that game in NY. We gotta take this one.

Are you trying to say that a Super Bowl Contender has never lost a game that they simply shouldn't have lost because I gotta disagree with you there.

Well, the Cowboys have lost two games this year that they could have won, and perhaps should have won. Super Bowl teams don't look for excuses, they win the games they are supposed to win, and do so convincingly. Philadelphia should have beat Tampa and New Orleans. They didn't. They are not Super Bowl bound.

Cowboys did lose 2 games they were in a position to win but the fact is even SB teams will lose games they are favored to win it happens every year. Except for the old Miami Dolphins team who went undefeated other than that they all drop games they could have or should have won.

The fact of the matter is, we arent as good as advertised. We have a ggod team, a team that can possibly win the division, maybe a playoff game, but we arent the SB contenders we were made out to be. SB contenders don't lose games like the one we lost to Jacksonville.
SB contenders lose games of all kinds, tough or easy, home or away.

Regardless, Dallas isn't a SB contender.

We will play the games and find out. This time last year not many would have thought Pitt would be the SB winner.

We may not be a SB contender. We'll find out a few things tonight on that subject.

No, I'm saying SB contenders don't lose games because they completely and totally collapse. If the other team comes back and straight up beats you, that's one thing. When your defense and your QB basically hand them 17 points, that's a different story entirely.

The 1970 Dallas Cowboys lose 38-0 to the Cardinals
The 1971 Dallas Cowboys lose 24-14 to the 4-8-2 NO Saints.
The 1975 Dallas Cowboys lose 31-17 to the Cardinals.
The 1977 Dallas Cowboys lose 28-13 to the Pittsbugh Steelers
The 1978 Dallas Cowboys lose 21-10 to the Minnesota Vikings
The 1992 Dallas Cowboys lose 31-7 to the Philadelphia Eagles
ignoring the two starting losses b/c Emmitt wasn't playing,
the 1993 Dallas Cowboys still lost to the Falcons 27-14
the 1995 Dallas Cowboys lost 38-20 to the 49ers.

After the 38 to zip loss, wasn't the game so bad that Landry cried in front of his own players? Isn't this documented in Chapter 38 of Peter Golenbock's book, "Cowboys have always been my Heroes"?

I think your argument is a lot of hot air, Heavy Hitta.

David.

There's no consistency at QB or in the pass rush. We might win the division, but thinking we can win it all is a reach.

Right now your correct but teams will either improve as the season goes on or they won't but teams who make it are the ones playing the best towards the end of the season. Pitt got on a hot steak last year heading into the playoffs and it carried them to the SB. How well your playing in week 6 of the season means nothing. As for Dallas I think our chances are better than some and not as good as others but if this team or any team gets hot at the right time you never know.

That's a perceptive post. If you looked at how NE was playing earlier in the year, two unimpressive wins over weak Buffalo and NYJ teams and a thrashing by the Broncos, you'd say they aren't very good. But that team is improving every week and now look like a real threat for the SB. That's what you need to do. As BP said, you don't stay the same in this league, you either get better or worse.

It's also a long year and you're not going to play great every week, individually or as a team. IMO even the best QB's have 3 poor games a season. Bledsoe's already had two but until he has more than 3 I'm standing firm behind him. I look for Dallas to win a close game tonight.

I agree. Each year about this time there are teams that look almost unbeatable but seldom does it remain that way over the course of 16 games. Other teams will sputter and then catch fire. You never know in this league but one thing I have seen all to often is the teams playing the best over the last part of the season are the teams who will end up in the big game.

No doubt about it. Players develop or on the other hand players get hurt. You just don't know how it'll go. The one thing I'm pretty confident about is that Bledsoe to TO will continue to get better as a passing combo. A lot of people don't seem to really get what it takes for passes to be completed. The year before Bledsoe and Keyshawn were doing nothing together well and it took all of training camp to develop a chemistry. TO and Bledsoe didn't have all of TC, and add to that TO is learning a new style of offense after 12 years in another style. It should gradually get better every week. And if it does we should get better.

I agree and I think that is one major advantage Dallas has over many teams out there. We are still adjusting to TO and as Beldsoe and TO get more familiar with each other I think we will see more big plays out of TO. I don't think this offense has hit its peak yet and I do expect bigger and better things out of this unit as the season goes forward.

That Jax team was not the team that beat us week 1. They are hurting. Plus, Houston was hell-bent on protecting Carr, they were only sending 3 rec's out many times. Plus, we didn't blitz -- we stayed in a cover 2 shell and rushed 3 or four guys because that's all we had to do to win. That's not only smart football, it's good football.

Yup. But they need to start tonight. This is close to a must win for a lot of reasons. The key will be protecting the QB and protecting the ball. It's going to be a barn burner.

I'll say this is a big game and we will have other big games down the road. I do agree the key to winning is protection
