i hate that waters is gone......our OL will struggle now. Will Tony make it out of the season alive, much less able to function in a normal capacity?

I bashed the guy quite a bit the first two preseason games.....however, in the last 3 he showed me something. I am glad we called up Pellerin from the practice squad.

I don't know if I would banish the offensive like to the world of "struggling".

Both tackles are playing better than last... Free by a wide margin. The center is playing at a higher level than last year.

Leary... And folks aren't going to like reading this, isn't playing as well as Livings did last year. That's the one drop off.

The Cowboys have altered their OL scheme to help Free this season.

They have the RG keep a closer than normal spacing with Free. This minimizes the outside rushers ability to beat Free to the inside and allows Free to over-set to the outside. They compensate by having the Center help to the right much much more than to the left. This causes Leary and Smith to be isolated and makes their jobs more difficult. They also call/design running plays to work around the problems that Free had last year. They have also played games with the way they use TEs to help Free.

The garbage ratings by PFF don't account for the fact that Smith has a much higher degree of difficultly than Free due to the scheme.

I love posts like this.

It's hard to imagine that there has ever been a more snake-bitten team than the 1997-2013 Dallas Cowboys(okay, maybe Buffalo, lol). I wouldn't be surprised to find out that Jerry made some sort of Faustian deal in 1991 and now we are paying for it,,,

But I thought our coaches spent all offseason and every week playing Candy Crush?

Dallas should bring Waters back next year but they should also draft a guard in the first or second round. I think last year we should have got Decastro at guard. Maybe a guard in the 1st round, and defensive tackle in the 2nd and 3rd round.

Waters is biggest and worst injury of the year.

I can't see the Cowboys committing to the guy again... I could be wrong but I just don't see it given his age and the bad injury he suffered he suffered this season.

Darn, to bad for Waters. We needed him to hold down that guard spot for a couple more years, until Arkin is ready to take over.

This is tough but injuries are part of the game. I think we will be OK with Bern for a couple of reasons - he is better than most here think and will be better playing between Fred and Free2013 than he was last year playing between Cook and Free2012.

ugh, just reading the name Bernadeau gives me that queasy, sinking feeling in my stomach. there goes the pass protection and the great year Free was having

this team is not snakebit, it is CURSED

It sure feels like it.

I agree with that.

Physically Bern is probably the most talented guard they had, even with Waters on the roster. With Bern it's a concentration thing. I don't expect a "Water's performance", but I don't think it's "train-wreck" either.
