Waters?

would love him as a coach, or a consultant-type to mentor the OLine...but, I feel he stunts Leary's growth...but mu goodness, I think Waters helped Fred to be a much better player in his limited time around him...I would want the same effect that waters could have on Martin...

I do not know what is more tiring.

The threads suggesting we get Alex Tanney back or this.

Well take your time. Make a pie chart. Think on it real hard. Have a beer. That usually does it.

Get back to me.

So he an take training camp off. Play a couple of games.. Get injured and collect 1.5 mil... Really?

I'd sign him to a one-year nonguranteed deal, allow him to mentor Martin, and cut his butt at the last cut. :p Of course it's an irrelevant scenario since the dude does not do training camp.

or...be honest with him, bring him to camp to coach up Martin and others. No salary cap on coaches. Pay the man

Fans, I think it's time to move on from Brian Waters
if Free doesnt convert back to the bad Free, we may need Martin at RT. But as it stand now Smith, Leary, Fredrick, Marin, Free looks dang good.

That's pretty absurd for you to say. Why wouldn't he get surgery to get it fixed REGARDLESS whether he wants to play or not? If he didn't get surgery that means he didn't need to have surgery. I'm not sure why you take this leap that because he didn't have surgery that must mean he's done playing football. He obviously didn't need surgery otherwise he would have gotten it instead of running around with a torn triceps his entire life or run around with a torn triceps way longer than he has to if it somehow heals by itself.

That was literally what Bryan Broaddus tweeted. That the surgery was not neccessary as a general human quality of life standpoint, but to play NFL guard that it was needed, and that it hadn't happened.

Yes, in a heart beat. He brings great leadership to the o-line and played decent until he got hurt. No brainer.

Thank you, Waters still has a good year in him, and would be an asset to the team.:D Come on down and join the party Waters.

Don't you think he would have officially retired by now if he didn't plan on returning?

All I know is what I've read as far as what has come from the team and Waters camp. As of May 10th he hadn't have surgery to repair his triceps, a surgery that would require at least 3 months of rehab to get back on the field, and a surgery that would be needed for him to play again.

That is the last I heard also. Perhaps someone can provide some kind of verification of this.

he hasn't had the surgery yet and he doesn't plan on coming to camp. you guys really want to deal with this still? i doubt garrett does. there's only so far you can bend over for a single player before you lose the integrity of the team culture.

Is Martin definitely the RG and not the LG? I wonder if they'll go for a balanced line or one side being dominant

Martin should be the damn RT. Bernadeau masked a ton of Doug Free's deficiencies last year. I would rather see what Bern could do next to Martin without having to play ping pong blocker in line to cover for him.

Would you bring back Waters for 1 year at LG for a reasonable salary... maybe $2M? If healthy, how much better is Waters at this stage compared to Leary? I like Leary, but I can't help but think Waters can still play at a higher level. I look at the following line and it looks dominant (except for Free).

LT - Smith
LG - Waters / Leary
C - Frederick
RG - Martin
RT - Free

Having Waters will decrease the wear and tear that Leary receives on his degenerative knee. I'd even consider rotating Waters and Leary at the position with Waters getting 70% of the reps. Maybe this will buy us another year for Leary down the road. I'd keep Bernadeau also even if that implies a 4th guard.

I think it would be a waste of money. If it was a vet minimum deal sure, but I rather put the 2 million towards a contract for dez or smith

Waters talk should have stopped when we drafted Martin, maybe for Oline Asst. Coach but no more than that.
