Watkins first padded practice notes

Not only that, but Justin Houston sounds like he was in good shape, and this was just the first full pad practice. I'm getting excited for our defence. I think the offense will figure it out, but if the defence is this good against our offense and forcing the offense to adjust, then that's great!!!
All Justin Houston does is tackle QBs. Yet, he gets next to no love. It's a universal mystery to me.

I agree. He's been really good for us since we got him, and if our front 7 AND secondary are good ALONG with our offense? Damn!! That's EXCITING news. Only question remaining (after the end of last season) is Aubrey for me. If Aubrey is back to being automatic, we might legitimately have something here.

He did the same in Detroit.

I'm assuming it mainly has to do with run defense. I haven't examined him enough to know if that is the case, but if he is abandoning his lane or his assignment to get pressure on the quarterback, then that's going to reduce playing time. It makes a player useful only in clear passing situations because a running play on third-and-4 or -5 can easily turn into a first down if one player fails to be where he's supposed to be.

Durant showing why he didn't give Caleb his jersey. I told people he was a good corner. I don't care that the rams moved on from him....he can play

The NFL has become very task specific. My sense is that if Houston became a pure pass rusher on 3rd downs he would be a productive guy. Too often he falls out of the rotation. I would take him over Sam Williams 365/365.

I mean, I'd think there'd be some like me who are taking this as a positive for the defence? With how bad our defence was, this might be good news. Especially since it sounded like our offense was very good the day before and with how good it usually is. If our offense is still really good, which I think it is, then the defence beating them today might be good news for the team as a whole.
Yes that’s very much a positive for our defense. Good news to hear they had a day they were able to win against a phenomenal offense. My point was about people who jump off a cliff about whichever unit lost that day.

Oh I get that. But I mean, it's practice...the first proper practice. And yeah, I'm not jumping either way. I like the fact that Parker seems to have this defence motivated and beat one of the better offenses from last year that's returning most starters.
