2014 - Loss to SF
2016 - Loss to NYG
2018 - Loss to Carolina
2021 - Loss to TB
2022 - Loss to TB

These are the only seasons we've made the playoffs the past decade. They all started with a loss. Actually, most all of them started with a pretty bad loss. 2021 was the only loss where the team looked good, and 2020 was the only year we lost the first game and went on to have a terrible season, due to the Dak injury.

When we start strong/ win the first game (2012, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019) the season ends up being terrible to kinda OK, with no playoffs, again with the exception of 2020.

This is all, of course, just completely meaningless, lol. I just thought it was an interesting trend.

There is no way we are loosing to the Giants week 1. They are getting all talked/steamed up like they are going to compete in the division, its been pathetic. We are going to smash them right out of the gates. 28 - 3 Is my prediction.
we may win but highly unlikely it's by that score.

If dak can't expose 2 rookie corners. One being a guy I didn't even think was good. Throw the season away

Your criteria is different to mine on what counts as a "Good" season. None of those seasons saw us sniff a Conference championship game.. all bad seasons in my book.

2014 was almost a good season, but you know... It was a catch.

The fact that they lose the opener so often before going on to have good seasons is a direct indictment of the way the Cowboys handle the preseason. The bubble-wrapping, camp cupcakes are forcing the starters to use the first game as a tune up, and they lose because of it. Last year it cost us a potential one seed.

Hey, we kinda sniffed one last year. Unfortunately, it was laced with fentanyl.

By my count we are 5-5 since 2012 in season openers.

And by virtue one would argue that not playing the preseason meant that while they lost the first game, they won at the end of the season in December when it mattered to get into the playoffs. Unlike the seasons where we did win at the start and end up falling short at the end of the season and missing the playoffs

Also note that in 2016 we were the #1 seed. And it didn't change anything.

I agree, but dont sleep on the Giants. They are an improving football team. A team thats been improving the Oline for years and now has some nice weapons surrounding Jones. Their defense also continues to improve.

And they actually have quality coaching now. The horrid Garrett no longer holds them hostage with the offense.
