I think the giants may upset the cowboys this first game.
They have an edge with it being in NY and outside, not sure if it is turf or not.
Also it is bigger game for the giants. The cowboys have beat them so much, they are desperate to win one against the cowboys.
Also giant starters did play some in PS, and jones looked sharp passing.

To the cowboys it is just game 1

2014 - Loss to SF
2016 - Loss to NYG
2018 - Loss to Carolina
2021 - Loss to TB
2022 - Loss to TB

These are the only seasons we've made the playoffs the past decade. They all started with a loss. Actually, most all of them started with a pretty bad loss. 2021 was the only loss where the team looked good, and 2020 was the only year we lost the first game and went on to have a terrible season, due to the Dak injury.

When we start strong/ win the first game (2012, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019) the season ends up being terrible to kinda OK, with no playoffs, again with the exception of 2020.

This is all, of course, just completely meaningless, lol. I just thought it was an interesting trend.
What happened as far as play in the past for every football team in the NFL doesn't have a magical bearing on what will happen in the future.

NO TEAM who had the seasonal rushing title EVER went to and won the Super Bowl.

Until Emmitt Smith did it three times.

Why? Because DAL chooses to use the first three games of the season as preseason! Its ridiculous.

I predict by the time the game gets here. Fans on here, more will predict a loss than a win.
it is the norm.

The fact that they lose the opener so often before going on to have good seasons is a direct indictment of the way the Cowboys handle the preseason. The bubble-wrapping, camp cupcakes are forcing the starters to use the first game as a tune up, and they lose because of it. Last year it cost us a potential one seed.

Not really. Garrett used to play starters in preseason, how do you think Romo broke his back.

This no preseason thing is new and came with Mike, starters played snaps under Garrett.

There is literally zero correlation between preseason snaps and performance. Dak didn’t have snaps in 2021 and played out of his mind. Same thing in 2022 and he was terrible. Literally zero correlation.

On the flipside of that, the Cowboys are 7-1 in game #1 for the seasons that they get to the Super Bowl.

The only loss occured in 1993 against Washington when Emmitt Smith was holding out.

Your criteria is different to mine on what counts as a "Good" season. None of those seasons saw us sniff a Conference championship game.. all bad seasons in my book.

2014 was almost a good season, but you know... It was a catch.
Making it to the divisional round is sniffing the championship game lmao, like literally.

1. Control
2. Two feet inbounds
3. Time to make a football move.

The rules in 2014 and anyone that says any one those weren’t accomplished sucks.

The problem with the rule and how it was written left too much room to interpret it differently. I think the rule was meant for players diving or going down as they were catching the ball. Dez took 3 steps after catching the ball. But all while falling. You could call it either way by the way the rule was written. But I don't believe it was intended for plays like that. Which is why they revised it.

To be honest, I don't think we're winning this game. But I'll be happy if we do. I also hope our OC isn't ignorant to the defensive play style of the Giants DC. What's his name? Mink, wink, link? They like to blitz. They gave Rodgers fits.

While we're at it distinct disadvantage game one in a lot of cases with the matchups I mean look we gotta play Sunday Night Football in New York with a team that really wants to seek revenge on the Cowboys because they lost what eight straight games to us they're gonna be ready game one and hungry and healthy and it's gonna be a tough game regardless this happens a lot in game one but guess what 16 teams usually win 16 teams usually lose game one that's the odds they're not very good odds...

So using that as an example it's kind of a moot point anyway.. I'm not wishing for a loss just because it would bode well for past records. I guess what needs to be done is people need to use your post as a don't use a loss week 1 to the giants and say we should have played in preseason and we're doomed for the rest of the season because that's not how it works in the 17 game season it's how you finish not how you start lots of teams started slow we started three and five in 2018 and turned that around but you look at the Bengals last year they they look pretty bad and I don't know how many times the 49ers haven't made a run until the last six games of the year,, so I rather do it the way the coach's been doing it no matter what game one happens you can't overreact to a loss in game one..

Yeah in 2020 new coach COVID 11 offensive line changes lots of injuries to major players and Prescott out yeah you can throw that out in any comparison because that just is a throwaway year for everyone it's even poor zeke got called a fumbler and he wasn't it was just a bad year.

And yet Prescott loves the blitz seriously they would be dumb to blitz Prescott and our offense one we got some quick hitters at running back now too you you overrun and we catch you I think this offense is gonna have more of those that look like a pass and end up calling it off and have a quick draw Tony Pollard and deuce Vaughn can be gone if you do this too often... What most teams have done against Prescott in this offense is trying to shut the rundown with four to five defensive fronts and then model up and make it real tough for separation with playing a lot of coverage that way they've been handling our offensive line pretty well and stopping our run pretty well that they can play Max coverage and make it very hard to pass.. So I invite them to blitz they wanna blitz which our offensive coordinator it's gonna know this and it's gonna be prepared for it and if they still do it even though they know other teams are expecting it they're gonna be in trouble we got three very good wide receivers to start this year not like last year...

Last year I remember the Giants getting beat on the blitz by us. I forget who was QB at the time. But they paid for it. But this year they have a better team. We'll see how it works out.
