We beat the Saints but I'm still not convinced

For the past couple of years the boys have done nothing to tease us. Especially leading up to December. We all know what happens there. Well, I never gave the boys a chance to win this game. I thought this game was going to be like the patriots game a few years ago. Tight for three quarters then the saints explode in the fourth. But thank god they won and increases our chances. I however am not convinced that this game will do one of two things.

First, be used like the 1991 game in washington. The boys 6-5 and the deadskins undefeated. Yet we went in there and won a game we weren't supposed to. It was the beggining of a great run.

Or

Like the Giants game in 2007 where we went into the meadowlands and beat the gaymen only to be defeated by them in the playoffs at home. In other words, this games means nothing if we lose next week and the week after.

Finally, despite the great win, I will not be convinced until they win a playoff game. They don't have to get past the second round. Just win a playoff game, just one. That is not too hard to ask. Once that happens, then my hopes, dreams, and confidence will return and the boys will once again reign supreme. But until that one playoff victory is achieved I will not be convinced.

You can be unhappy and pessimistic and the rest of us will celebrate and enjoy the wins we get, because that is why we love the game. If you cant celebrate a win then why even follow the team.

Just enjoy it man.

We all know Dallas is a team that will beat themselves but you know what? If Dallas doesn't hand a game over on a silver platter then not many teams are going to beat us.

We could easily be 13-1 right now if not for stubbing our own toes.

As for last night.. Lets just enjoy doing something that everyone said was impossible and that was for ANY team to beat New Orleans @ New Orleans.

It was an impressive win. I agree to an extent with your thoughts. Wouldn't be surprised in the least if we lose to the Skins next week. It will be their Super Bowl. But, I think you need to temper your expectations the Cowboys seem to tempt us all, but are they really an elite team?? You have to look at it in context, yeah sure we have some talent, but it's not like we are the best team in the league. If we lose again this year in the playoffs it shouldn't surprise you, not because they've got everyone excited again, but because how good are they really? No one knows that answer to that until the season is over.

Then once they win the next 2 games and also a play off game you wont be happy until they win another super bowl. After that you wont believe in them unless they can win another one. It will always take something more for you.

Yep. I am enjoying the hell out of this one. That said, I think we all understand the importance of the big picture and what looms.

OP's got a point. But Jeeze, wait until the result from the Giants game is in before being a Debbie Downer. Enjoy the victory for 24 hours before peeing in everbodys cornflakes.

Think what some Saints fan are thinking today. The a MUCH worse history of gagging....believe I loved there and witnessed some epic collapses that dwarf

ALL teams would-coulda-shoulda have better records than they have and have claimed to have left games on the field this year and before. Relax and enjoy the wins.

We shall see. This one was definitely a big and unexpected win. Now we'll find out if it's a real turning point or not. So far, the one big difference between this December and the recent ones is Romo - he's by far been an asset instead of the liability he was the last few years late in the season.

Against the Saints, the 4th quarter wasn't pretty, but you have to love what we did the first three quarters and then the drive after the Saints cut the lead to 7 showed me a lot. Even though Folk choked again, Romo and the offense responded, didn't panic and made plays which got us inside the 10 and should've resulted in icing the game for us. Then the defense managed to do it's job and stop the Saints and preserve the win.

It's all about closing. The last few seasons were weren't able to close the year strong or games late in the year. Now they've done it once in a very big game. But to get in the playoffs and advance they'll need to do it a few more times.

The wonderful thing about this win for me is, this might have been the toughest ticket for anything sports-related in the history of Louisiana sports, Super Bowls notwithstanding. At least, to hear Archie Manning tell it.

Saturday night, nationally televised...

The Dallas Cowboys in town...

And the best part? If the Saints get past Dallas, it's Tampa and Carolina to close the season.

That being the case, New Orleans has been flirting with disaster for about a month now. Washington, Atlanta, and even the Rams had pushed them to the brink. Dallas was one team able to close the deal.

Everything at stake - for them and us - made this such a great win. They can downplay it all they want.
