I dont blame you Cowboy Mark. The last two games are gonna be tough. You have to admit last night was an unexpected but pleasant suprise. The thing is, if the team does not beat themselves they can play with anybody and they are healthier than alot of teams right now.

Then once they win the next 2 games and also a play off game you wont be happy until they win another super bowl. After that you wont believe in them unless they can win another one. It will always take something more for you.
Im not asking for super bowls, I already saw three. I'm asking for alot better then waiting 13 years for a stinking playoff win. Just one and I will be more then happy.

For the past couple of years the boys have done nothing to tease us. Especially leading up to December. We all know what happens there. Well, I never gave the boys a chance to win this game. I thought this game was going to be like the patriots game a few years ago. Tight for three quarters then the saints explode in the fourth. But thank god they won and increases our chances. I however am not convinced that this game will do one of two things.

First, be used like the 1991 game in washington. The boys 6-5 and the deadskins undefeated. Yet we went in there and won a game we weren't supposed to. It was the beggining of a great run.

Or

Like the Giants game in 2007 where we went into the meadowlands and beat the gaymen only to be defeated by them in the playoffs at home. In other words, this games means nothing if we lose next week and the week after.

Finally, despite the great win, I will not be convinced until they win a playoff game. They don't have to get past the second round. Just win a playoff game, just one. That is not too hard to ask. Once that happens, then my hopes, dreams, and confidence will return and the boys will once again reign supreme. But until that one playoff victory is achieved I will not be convinced.

The Cowboys just proved they can beat anybody, anywhere.

Now the challenge is to prove something they haven't done for years: maintain that high level of play and winning throughout December and January.

Can they do it? We'll see. Phillips' job depends on it.

We shall see. This one was definitely a big and unexpected win. Now we'll find out if it's a real turning point or not. So far, the one big difference between this December and the recent ones is Romo - he's by far been an asset instead of the liability he was the last few years late in the season.

Against the Saints, the 4th quarter wasn't pretty, but you have to love what we did the first three quarters and then the drive after the Saints cut the lead to 7 showed me a lot. Even though Folk choked again, Romo and the offense responded, didn't panic and made plays which got us inside the 10 and should've resulted in icing the game for us. Then the defense managed to do it's job and stop the Saints and preserve the win.

It's all about closing. The last few seasons were weren't able to close the year strong or games late in the year. Now they've done it once in a very big game. But to get in the playoffs and advance they'll need to do it a few more times.

Didn't read your post before I posted. Sounds like we are on the same page.

Didn't read the whole thread so I'm sure this has been covered.

You just keep that guard up buddy!

While you're waiting for the other shoe to drop consider this.....

How'd you like to be a Vikings fan? Consider their history. How many SB losses do they have? How many times did they fail to make it as a #1 seed?
1998 being the last.

Now they've lost what? 2 in a row, or 2 out of the last 3. After getting off to a 10-1 start.
Do you think those fans are nervous?

You do have some solid points, but in times like this, after wins and losses in December, I point to things that are different about this team versus years past.

Here is what is different this year, and reason for some optimism:

1) Team Focus - I was at the Saints game, and I saw a team that was extremely focused. The sideline was rocking the entire game. Players were in each other's craw, and they were extremely focused. I didn't see this in years past, win or lose.

2) QB play - Romo has had a great December. He has played extremely well. No fumbles, no INTs, yada yada. His passer rating this December is leaps and bounds higher than in Decembers past. Any time your QB plays this well consistently, you have a chance to win.

3) Leadership - Ware, Romo, Brooking, Austin, and even a young Jenkins stepping up. I've never seen so many leaders emerge in Decembers past.

4) Health - we have a relatively healthy team this December versus years past. Knock on wood. Yes, we are missing a starting o-lineman, but his backup has been serviceable. Getting Bennett back may be of some help also.

I'm not chugging the Kool-aid in full force yet, but I have started sipping on it. The 4 factors above give me reason to believe in this team.

I'm pumped about the win...but it means nothing if they hiccup against the Skins. I don't really think they will...but there's reason to worry.

With the way John Phillips has been playing, I don't think we gain anything from Bennett returning. And I'm a fan of Martellus. He needs to develop a little more consistency in receiving.

I like what I saw of John Phillips also. I had seats on the Cowboys sideline just 3 rows up. He was jacked up the entire game. He made some crucial catches at critical times. That dude may be an emerging leader for years to come.

One thing I forgot to add to my post above is the play of our defense, and our running game. The old NFL brass will tell you that those 2 things are critical in the month of December...and I think they are.

I would love another one too. But not winning a stinking playoff game in 13 years is enough to bang my big head against a brick wall. Which I've wanted to do over and over again with all the frustrations this team has given me over the years.
