We can still make the playoffs

I know it sounds nuts but look at our competitions remaining schedules:

ATL: vs Vikings,@NO,@TB,NO,CAR let’s say they go 2-3 they’ll finish 9-7. I can see them losing to the Vikings splitting with NO and losing Car.

Seattle: Eagles (L), @jags ? , Rams, @Dal, Cards
We’ll have Zeke back and they play the eagles , Rams and @jags I could see them losing at least 3 games more importantly if we beat them.

Lions: @baltimore , @TB, Bears, @Cincy , GB(with Rodgers) ravens and bengals are both playing better and @ home those will be tough for lions. Need them to lose 3 games.

So basically if these 3 teams lose 3 games and we win out we can make it.

We have the Skins, Raiders,Giants, Seahawks (Zeke back), Eagles(may rest starters)
If we can get on a 3 game win streak skins , raiders, giants we have a good shot IMO.

ATL- MIN, NO can be 7-6 in two weeks
SEA- PHI, JAX can be 7-6 in two weeks
DET- BAL, TB can be 7-6 in two weeks

Carolina who is 8-3 can easily lose next 3 vs NO, MIN and GB (Aaron Rodgers playing). They're also with 3 losses vs NFC compared to our 4. If they lose these three they'll be 8-6 with 4-6 vs NFC.

We can still make the playoffs but we're literally hanging on our final thread. TNF game is huge since we can almost chalk up the W vs NYG who have obviously called it quits this season.

You said it all in the first line, friend. This team is toast, stick a fork in them cause they are done. Just remember what you've been seeing for the last 3 weeks and expect
to see the same for 3 weeks more. Time to tank and get a better draft position for next spring.

Playoffs?? Really?? Not happening.. This team has been blown out 3 straight games... Nothing about this team screams just get into the dance..

QB play sucks
WR play sucks
Defense sucks

No Zeke...
Too many injuries

"Pessimistic Cowboy" huh? J/k, its fun to have a dream. Im there too brother.

What if we have Zeke and Sean Lee at the right time? I wouldn’t count us out with Zeke and Lee vs anyone...what if Awuzie comes in and starts playing really well...a lot can happen. But the Seahawks and falcons could both be 7-5 after this week and if we win we’re 6-6. We’d be right there! I’m just saying if we beat the Skins this season is far from over.
Pessimist Cowboy is being an optimist...I don't get it.

Commanders game will tell us wether or not we'll still have a chance but the tell all if we win would be Oakland. They've had their struggles but I could see them beating the crap out of us. We manage to get those two wins and then you'll have me thinking maybe it's a real possibility.

It's funny, been following the Boys since Duane Thomas 1970 was a #1 draft pick. This year at Thanksgiving I think I watched maybe 5 plays total, have never tuned out before like I have now. Not sure what that is all about, maybe I am finally learning some self preservation. I think Dak's performance lately has really taken the wind out of my sails when it comes to the Cowboys. Like I said...has never happened before.

This team needs to win out to make the playoffs. That’s 5. 3 more to get to the SB. 1 more to win the SB. That’s 9 straight games that we need to win to be SB champs. Think about that. Can this coaching staff lead us to 9 straight wins???? As much as it sucks, best thing that could happen to the Cowboys is get a top 10 draft pick. We have 9 selections in the draft and 6 in the first 4 rounds. We also add a top 4 pick (Zeke) to this team next year. This team can significantly improve its talent this offseason and that is imperative moving forward as this coaching staff isn’t going anywhere so we need to win with talent.

Our only shot at the playoffs is if we can manage to switch to the AFC. We'd be only 1 game behind the wild card. We're 3 games behind in the NFC.

You know it might be good to make the playoffs just to get Dak and other youngins some more playoff experience. As long as they don't lose like 35-14 it should be a beneficial experience. If it's going to be 45-7 it's probably better off they don't make the playoffs.

If you can make the playoffs, make 'em. Always worth it.

I might have joined you if JG wasn't our HC and was the HC of one of the teams we are chasing instead.

Tanking is a standard accepted strategy. Even employed in baseball where the payoff is farther away and less likely.

Forget the Underdog Label—the Astros Got to the World Series by Tanking
Houston and its data-driven front office have been commended throughout 2017 for just how exceptional the ballclub has been: Astros hitters finished second in the American League in homeruns but last in strikeouts. They also led the league in batting average, with 19 points between them and second-place Cleveland. (Altuve, who hit .346 with 24 homers, deserves the league MVP award.) They were one game back of the Indians for the AL’s best record—101–61 in 2017, from 51–111 in 2013. That’s some turnaround.
But those of us with intact memories cannot forget why exactly the Astros were in such a bad place four seasons ago: They tanked. They fielded a team with a $22 million payroll, by far the lowest in baseball, with a 34-year-old Erik Bedard the only player earning more than $1 million. They had been hardly better in 2012 (55–107) and would still be wretched in 2014 (70-92), the year Sports Illustrated declared them impending champs in 2017.

The Astros Tanked Their Way To The Top
Just like last year’s Cubs. Is this the new blueprint for every baseball loser?

How the Astros pulled off the biggest tank in MLB history and built a World Series champion
The Astros' success began with an unprecedented tanking operation. The team's brain trust built two of the worst teams in MLB history in their first years on the job. The result was a bushel of high draft picks and a farm system that produced many of their current players.

They Tanked Like the Sixers; Now the Astros Are MLB's Next Big Powerhouse
"Trust the process," goes the saying in Philadelphia. As painful as it is to watch the 76ers throw themselves into year after year of bad basketball, surely it will be for the greater good in the long run.
That's about as far as this baseball writer is qualified to remark on that. But what he can say is this: "Trust the process" should have originated with the Houston Astros.

Tipsheet: Astros finally reap reward for blatant tanking
The Houston Astros paid a heavy price for tanking multiple seasons.
During a four-year span, they finished 56-106, 55-107, 52-111 and 70-92 while general manager Jeff Luhnow traded veterans for prospects and "earned" great draft position. That sell-off allowed the franchise to operate with tiny payroll and a large profit margin, but it also took a toll on the franchise's fan base.

The 2016 Cubs are living proof that tanking works (and more teams should do it)

Tanking no more, the 76ers are embracing their own high expectations
