It is still ONE draft.

You know that thing that is done every year and when it doesn't turn out right, people like you say it is a "crap shoot"?
You ought to pipe down and keep you powder dry. Wait till after the draft to knock the FO decision makers on their drafting strategy of late.

But if you do it now you can say I told you so if it works out like you say and if it works out great you can claim it is an outlier...either way you get a two for one chance to complain.

I hate to break it to all of you, but they absolutely can trade those picks even if they don't have them. It was done last year on multiple occasions. The Eagles are receiving a 4th Rd comp pick from the Browns this year from the Wentz trade. How? Because it was promised to them last year with the understanding that if the Browns didn't get it, that Pick converted to their 5th. The Patriots agreed to trade Collins for the Browns 3rd Rd comp and the Rams traded a comp pick this year in the trade with the Titans.

So yes they can agree to trade "what they don't have".

You can't trade what doesn't exist you yet. Those picks won't materialize until next March.

I think that teams have traded comp picks "conditionally." Trade your our 4th round comp pick. If we don't get it, you get our 4th round regular pick.

The Cleveland - New England trade with Jamie Collins in October involved a 2017 conditional compensatory pick.

Per the NFL’s transaction wire, the Patriots will receive a conditional 2018 fourth-round pick in return for Collins. But if Cleveland is awarded a compensatory third-round pick in 2017, New England would get that pick instead.

You also get to enjoy the benefit of being wrong, that's why it takes no guts to predict failure. Same thing with season predictions, that's why you get a bunch of crappy 7-9 to 10-6 predictions every year. I accurately predicted 13-3, although that was with Romo.

I'd be very reluctant to trade next year picks to move up this year or for more picks this year.
We don't know whether we'll be 13-3 or 3-13, and if the latter, you've given up a prime spot in the draft to acquire talent.

Just work this draft, move down in possible for more picks or if not, just pick the best player available who also fills a tremendous need.

Worry about next year, next year.

If things don't break right next year, this means Jerry Jones wheeling and dealing after an embarrassing step back season.

What could possibly go wrong?
You still think Jerry controls the draft.

In other news you might find interesting...Man landed on the moon and we won the Great Wars...yes wars...both of them...there were two.

I think Cleveland did to get Jamie Collins. A provision needs to be included to say we will give up a 5th if we aren't awarded a 4th, but I'm fairly certain we can

We'll get as many as we want. It's part of our salary cap philosophy.

Of course. We can have all the comp picks we want and the salary cap is irrelevant. I can hear the chuckling about the salary cap from the peanut gallery now.

We are looking at a 4th, 5th, 5th and 6th right now and that is very solid

I would definitely trade a comp 2018 4th for a 5th round pick this year

:lmao2:One draft made a 4-12 team a 13-3 team. Good story bro.
The team wasn't truly a 4-12 club. We simply had some of the worst qb play i've seen in the last decade. An Average QB takes that 4 win team to 8-8 at worst.

The Tuna always said, you are what your record says you are. So I'm not buying your excuse. That was a 4-14 bad team. Just like Romo had done numerous other seasons, he could have made that really bad team an 8-8 team and screwed us out of drafting Zeke the following draft. Those 3 consecutive 8-8 seasons should have been 4-12 or worse seasons as well and then imagine the great draft picks we could have drafted.

The Tuna got ran out of the league. Nice quote if you're comfortable just completely ignoring context. I'm not.

That's a convenient story you just made up there bro to make what you are saying make more sense but unfortunately for you I know the rest of the story. Folks that get "run out of the league", don't get voted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Chad Johnson and Terrell Owens were run out of the league.
