We can't get RB Gordon (without trading up)

, significantly- which would be costly.

There's simply no way he lasts to our pick, especially considering the backfields of teams picking ahead of us.
I'm predicting he's gone by #20.

I can't even begin to express how ridiculous I believe it is to spend a 1st on a running back. The only saving grace was that our pick was so late, so I can force myself to think of it as a high 2nd but to trade up for a RB? No thanks.

When did this mentality become the norm? Dallas established itself as a running team last year, now the most important position in that plan isn't worthy of a first round pick? Productivity is the only thing that determines if a player was or wasn't worth a first pick IMO. We took a Center in the first round a few years ago, that seems to be working out well for us. If the right player is there in the first you take him regardless of position with certain exception being obvious.

Yea, my bad- this thread was more about the availability of Gordon at #27 (or, lack of, rather), than it is an endorsement for trading up. Would like the pick if we got him but I, too, don't believe trading up in the 1st for a rb is necessary... I don't think he's a realistic option for Dallas where we pick (unfortunately).

I'm not certain that I would draft Gordon even if he is available. Gurley is the only guy that I would want to draft in the 1st round.

There hasn't been a RB drafted in the 1st since 2012 and its a foregone conclusion that the almost universally 2nd best RB in the class is gone by 27? Yeah, not buying it. Not saying there's no chance he goes, but way premature on a statement like this.

I don't think the Boys draft a RB at their current spot let alone trade up for one.

Hey, Gordon would be a great pick, he is a jet.

I like the trade down scenario best, especially if the BPA at 27 is not a defensive player that could fit on the front 7. Wouldn't bother me to trade down, get an extra pick and use it on an RB somewhere in that 2nd to 3rd range. Something similar to what we did on the trade down that led to T. Williams.

Good
Don't want him anyway

I think we trade out of the 1st round and position ourselves in the top half of round 2 for a running back.

Of course this is just a guess, Predicting actual draft happenings is like playing darts in the dark.

anybody who wouldnt take gurley at 27 is downright crazy. best rb to come out since AD in 07

when this draft has maybe 18 first round grade players, to have the chance to take the best player not named leonard williams at 27 would be a god send, and who cares if he is on PUP for 6/7/8 games, you use the draft to build long term not to win now

Exactly what I keep reading. Gurley is the best back and then there is the rest.

I felt the same way until I really focused in on Gordon.

Seems to me like there is a great deal of talent in the late first. I'd really hate to trade out and miss some of that.
