We can't get RB Gordon (without trading up)

Viaing for a RB Dallas can stay @ 27 and land one of the two best RBs in the Draft, either Gurley or Gordon. At least one should be available. Watch for a versatile DT as well.

In a Trade up IMhumbleO Cowboys shoot for need, without Ro. Mc, weego MLB Kendricks in such a scenario.

In a trade down scenario to the 2nd round there should be RBs that rank slightly lower than the top two but may actually have better Pro careers.

SD, Det, Ariz, Car, Bal are the teams who might take one of Gordon or Gurley. Of those teams, I think SD and Ariz are the biggest threats to actually take one. All of these teams have major holes on either the OL or at WR except Ariz who are rumored to be in on AP. Det, Car and Bal all have RBs I think they feel good enough about to not take a RB in round 1. I think it is just as likely, maybe more, that both Gordon and Gurley are there at 27 as both are taken before that. You also have to factor in the off the wall picks that ALWAYS happen. How often does a guy get picked on day one that nobody expected.

If Dallas does look to do any moving around in any round, I would really, really like for them to try to trade future picks. Next year they will probably get the max amount of comp picks and pretty high ones at that. It would be better to keep as many as possible this year while still maintaining a full compliment of 7 picks next year.

When did this mentality become the norm? Dallas established itself as a running team last year, now the most important position in that plan isn't worthy of a first round pick? Productivity is the only thing that determines if a player was or wasn't worth a first pick IMO. We took a Center in the first round a few years ago, that seems to be working out well for us. If the right player is there in the first you take him regardless of position with certain exception being obvious.

The guy we "established ourselves as a running team" with was a third round pick.

I'm all for adding RB talent, but I don't see the point in spending a 1st on one when so many of the better ones in the league weren't first rounders.

I like both Gurley and Gordon a lot and wont be mad if we take them but i feel we can find an impactful Dlineman or CB in the first.

FWIW, I think Gordon IS the best rb in this draft.
Gurley is no Adrian Peterson (to the poster who, along with many others, has made that comparison).
I agree that most rb talent is usually found in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.
Still wouldn't hate Gordon at 27- nt at all. Still think he's gone by then.

I don't see the Cowboys going 1-tech in the first... and the other 3 starting D-line positions are pretty well spoken for, the backup DE is as well. I would love a CB in the first (though probably after a trade down), but I just don't see the value there at d-line.

I think Gurley is a rare combination of power, speed and vision. Wouldn't trade up for him but if he fell to 27 taking him would be a no brainer.

I don't know about the character/personality of Gurley but assuming there aren't any big concerns there- I wouldn't hate the selection of Gurley at #27 (should he be available then). I haven't seen AP level ability in him, however- perhaps I'm incorrect.

My only concern with Gordin is his catching the ball out of the backfield. I haven't watched enough of him to get a guage on his ability there. I think the guy can be better than Murray because he has homerun speed that Murray seems to be missing. On the flip side, I see guys like Ajayi and Coleman and Abdullah as more than capable replacements for Murray and that would be more than enough to keep this offense on that championship level that they are striving for.

It is a matter of trading up for Gordin (because I think he is gone) or taking BPA and I would lean toward BPA. I bet one of these guys will fall in our laps in the second or third or be close enough that we can justify moving forward or back in the draft for them.
